View Full Version : Government Shutdown Averted

its all smoke and mirrors to distract you from the main issue.
the plan all along was to make everyone concentrate on the looming government shut down... and then at the last minute pass something to prevent that horrible sounding shut down of the government.
and what they passed from news sources i have read - was a 2 billion dollar budget cut, with another 37 billion in cuts still in discussion.
so what does this mean?
When compared to the budget deficit - Congress cut about 0.15% in spending with that $2B pittance.
if you had a household budget of $45,000 a year... and you cut that annual budget by 0.15% - you would have to cut spending by a scant $8.12 per month
its a pitiful amount of money we are talking about and congress has done no real work
Right, time to have each party name a champion... Pistols at dawn.(Or swords if preferred) Best case scenario they both kill each other and the world loses two politicians. :O:
Although your post makes it sound like they are just working together now just to screw everyone so that probably wouldn't solve anything.

And you see, this is where Rome got it wrong. They let the politicians arrange the games.
We'll make them compete in the games.
And so many of them are lawyers, too. It's a win-win!

So as the Titanic is sinking, both political parties are arguing about which dripping faucet needs to be fixed. :nope:

Agreed. Everyone wants benefits and wants someone else to pay for them.

I just want the benefits that *I* paid for.

We'll call it a Gladiatorial Republic! Or a Democratic Gladiatorialship! Whichever side wins the first gladiatorial games.
