Hi. I'm new here, but I've spent time searching and I cannot seem to find a link to download SH3 Commander.

I see it mentioned in the newbie guide but the link takes you to a page that doesn't seem to contain it anymore.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

It's in the Downloads section here, click on Downloads and do a search for SH3 Commander, it should give you a link.

Holy cats, do I feel stupid. It was right at the top of the list. I never scrolled past the category fields above the list.

Thanks much.

Thank you.

I played this game years ago when it launched, but I decided to reinstall it and play it again. When I saw all of these mods available it made me excited to give them a try. It always makes me nervous to mod a game because it gets confusing at times.

I downloaded the JSGME tool, and I think I know what to do from here.

In that case I'd take it nice and easy - one step at a time...

Read the accompanying documentation carefully, follow the directions and use JSGME (so you can rollback if need be).

Beyond that I'd recommend activating and testing one mod at a time. That way if there is an issue you know exactly where the problem lies.

Last but not least, have fun customizing your game! :woot:

Okay, I'm pleased to report the following:

- I bought the Grey Wolves expansion which required a removal and reinstallation of SH3. No problem because I was only on Mission 12 of my career. So starting fresh is no big deal.

- Then I installed SH3 Commander. Nice tool.

- Grey Wolves really adds a lot to the playability of the game. It definitely makes the game more difficult, or you could say "realistic."

- So far the only mods I've added are a gramaphone mod, and the Mighty Fine Crew mod.

- I really liked the addition of the Kiel Canal course to the Navigation Officer.

Anyway, it's like having a brand new game.

Cheers.

Bought? GWX is free.

Unless you got the "Donation" version, which is not necessary but always appreciated.

...the Mighty Fine Crew mod.
I could be wrong, but as far as I know that's a mod for SH5.

Hahahahaha No wonder it didn't seem to do anything.

And, yeah, I made a donation.

Be careful throwing in mods willy nilly like that. Make sure each is compatible with each other. And add them one at at time. You could easily end up FUBAR'ing your install.

Hahahaha Yep, played the game all last night with it installed, used JSGME to uninstall it today, and my game is boned.

Doing a new install right now.

Actually, I made a mod for my grandson called "the perfect Crew" all of whom had markedly increases skill levels and ranks, and markedly improved morale and experience. All the petty officers had special qualifications and high rank and all the officers had full qualifications and high rank. I also decreased the skill levels of the AI units. I released it to a few testers and friends for use with their kids but it made the game an arcade-shooter game so I did not release it for general use.
There might be a few copies of this mod around.

Didn't say I wanted one, just responded to someone saying he had loaded an SH5 mod into SH3.
