Wonder if that's PC or console. If it's consoles, I think we've just found the best looking console game ever.

Given that the grab is 1280 x 720, I would say it's a dump from a console, probably the 360 as Bethesda are notoriously poor at coding AA & AF on the PS3.

That aside, it does look very purdy.

More like they're just too lazy. :hmmm:

You've just reinstated my hatred towards Bethesda. I didn't pick up the last fall out because of it. I guess I'll have to see how this one goes.

I dont think thats very impressive, you could probably recreate it easily even with the Half Life 2 engine.

Apparently it's a 360 shot. Which is amazing.

Mmm, if you say so.

I think it looks pretty good. I even recognize the New Vegas pine trees.

I think it looks fantastic!... and like one of those games I probably can't play due to older PC. :-?

Oh well, just re-installed Oblivion and going through all the 2 trillion mods to see what I need.

I don't know. I'm with Stabitz on this one, I don't find it that impressive at all. Maybe it would be better to see it in motion.:hmmm:

That looks just fine.

As long as the gameplay is good, I'm happy.

After looking at it for a few times, I think that screenshot is rendered 3D shot.

I can't say I am an excellent 3D renderer, but I have learned some tricks. One would be the use of ambient occlusion render, i.e. you render the color (normal) picture first and as a separate layer, the AO, mix them in Photoshop and you get very nice results, much like this, those nearest rock on the left look like they've had some AO treatment. :hmmm:

But I must say, it still looks awesome.

EDIT: The largest thing Photoshop-wise is the fog/clouds. They look too random. Effectively, clouds are 2d pictures (usually), photoshop here too? Not saying them clouds/fog wont' be there in the final product, but not as nice.

This is it in motion:

I don't know if it's been touched up or not.

That's a nice looking shot, but it doesn't look like anything real groundbreaking. To me, anyway, it looks like a gussied up version of Oblivion. :88) No matter, though, because I'm a huge Elder Scrolls fan. However, my computer will never be able to run it.

Really!?

Skyrim looks a lot more advanced than that to me. Also, Skyrim is a console game. Assuming the shot in post #1 is an unmodified 360 screen, I'd say it's groundbreaking in so much as that it looks better than anything I've seen on a 360 before.

Jesus! Let it off with the "this is a console game" BS.

We haven't seen anything gameplay wise.

I'm so ticked off with ppl saying that BS.

DA2 for example, I've seen people who haven't even played the game for more than 5 seconds say it's a "console port". Jesus, PLAY THE GAME, MAKE YOUR MIND THEN! IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!

GHHHAAARGH!!!!

Just wait for the damn game, before you go ape****.

Whoa, wha... !? :timeout:

Dowly, I didn't mean... whatever you think I meant. I didn't mean "it's a console game" as anything bad. Chill out! :salute:

Uh wait what?? :DL

No, your reply just ninja'ed there.

I'm speaking generally, something is wrong when PC people say it's because it's a console port.

I have only PS2, and I only use it nowadays to watch DVDs, so I think I have enough PC experience to tell what is and what is not a direct console port. And have in mind, I HATE xbox for Halo and what it did to FPS genre. But these days, if ANYTHING is wrong in a PC game it's automatically = blame the consoles!

It doesn't work like that! PC and console games have been well separated for years, except for few instances. So, stop blaming consoles because maker X can't make a game! Instead... blame Halo. :DL

Edit: Balls.. that didn't make any sense.. did it?

EDIT2: Guess what I am trying to say is that no matter what the game is, and which platforms it is even available, if there's something wrong = blame them consoles.

I've never done that.

Think the point is that even consoles can have good games. Arkham Asylum for example was a throughly enjoyable game, though it is about as "console" as it gets.

I don't get the comments. Game looks fine, yes it's pretty, and no I doubt they edited the screenshots. What's the point of doing ambient occlusion as an after-effect if the engine can do it in real-time?

I have the PC version of Oblivion. While I don't really use gameplay changing mods, I have had some graphical ones. Graphical mods really enhanced the visual appeal of the game. When I said what I did I was referring to a modified version of the game. I guess I should have clarified. Anyway, Skyrim still looks good.

Putting on my critical hat:
I hope the PC version is tweakable, particularly the shadow resolution (the shadows in the trailer look quite blocky to me).

I'm an uncurable Oblivioner, I'm still taking an occasional stroll through it, just for the beauty and charming mood of it. I am looking forward to Skyrim, I am thankful that they again created apparently more real-worl landscapes and familiar vegetation and forests, than just some fantasy Mischmasch :DL .
