I keep playing with the escorts ratings. Amazing how much this effects them, deadly suckers at rating 4.

Anyone explain this, do the visuals and sensors remain the same for those values or change when you change crew ratings?

Is there anyway to change all the ratings in each group instead of one at a time with notepad?

Do the ratings have much effect on large capital ships, seems they repair faster and takes more torps to sink em?

Can't remember the time limit for TMO or if RSRD effects it concerning how long they will search after they lose contact, seems
around 30 minutes. Doe's ratings effect this limit, if not where do you find the values to keep them searching longer?

I added several sub killer groups to RSRD. I found one in Formosa and decided to try it out. It included the DD with 8 Y guns by Ducimas, two Matsu DE's and a Momi. They came at me from about 6nms or so, I was running away and had to dive when they started shooting from 10,000 yards..love the change. It's amazing how a group of 4 elite escorts tactics are totally different, almost like they work together. They all attack, do side by side runs, attack from angles, but worse they seem to know when to drop charges. I often use flank in deep water to outrun charges, but those suckers will drop far in front.

Anyway, drop patterns are pretty good. Ole Bungo sure is deadly with a group, in one run the first blast seems to be 15 charges, goe's another few seconds blast another 4, then 8, then lots of rear drops. I can't get a sure count on the number dropped in one pass, but about 30 per pass. Are the amount of charges dropped always the same with each pass?

Here's the group working me. One making a pass, the other coming in from an angle.

Well, they just killed me or I killed myself. Funny, one was always listening pointed right at me, this one listening as the other terd makes a pass.

Then the listener makes his run. I had a mild bow dive. Subs always hard to control over 600ft deep, but I went to near 700 a few times and reversed to get back up. This time I started reversing at 600 ft, but couldn't pull out, started blowing tanks at about 650. By the time it stopped I was past the mark and sub blew somewhere right past the 700ft mark. Not sure if that's the line, but somewhere around 730ft the massive damage took place.

I wants it!! Great pics by the way.

Tell me what I have to do to get the dds to behave like that. I have a death wish, but recently have been able to fool the dds in TMO on difficult settings (most of the time.)

One of my three poodles, Scout (aptly named!) sounds off if I leave the mission unattended and am attacked, so I have an aleret deck crew on my boat.:D

Note: need good instructions.

Using RSRD the best way is using wordpad.

Open your sh4
Go to your mods folder, find RSRD mod, open
data
campaigns
campaign

You'll find all your mis files by year, such as 41a Jap convoys. You'll have to open the ones you want to change, but for this, just open 41a Jap convoys, first one by right clicking, then open it with notepad/wordpad, either works...You see some mission parameter files, but go on down and look for file groups like this.

[RndGroup 1.RndUnit 1]
Class=NSampan03
Type=104
Origin=Japan
Side=0
CargoExt=1
CargoInt=0
CfgDate=19411201
No=6
Escort=false
SpawnProbability=100
CrewRating=2

You see the line that says CrewRating=2, that's the one, just adjust it, 3 and 4's are tough, with 4 being killer. After it gives you the group, you have to scroll through the groups waypoints until you find the next group, just change crew ratings. You can change cargo loadouts for merchants if you want using int and ext.

Course if you go through every file and ship that's hundreds of ships. I went through most years and adjusted a few to 4 for each group.

"TheTheDarkWraith_DC_Water_Disturbance_v2_0_SH4" seems to work well with RSRD, helps a lil blocking sonar when a charge goes off for a few seconds.

It's best to uninstall RSRD from your mods first. Make the changes, then install again. If you have RSRD loaded as a mod, it overwrites files when you load it, so if you make changes after it's loaded they won't take effect, you need to back it out, make changes, then reload it so it can overwrite again with the changes you've made....make sense.
