View Full Version : Are Depth Soundings Accurate?

I'm starting to think the depth soundings are not very accurate. Maybe this is on purpose to simulate the innacuracy of the depth sounder.

I did a test dive the other day in 100m of water (according to depth sounding). I set dive for 80m. At about 75m I hear a loud crunch:o....my sub hit the bottom. I think the depth readings are actually about 25m more than they really are. Anyone else confirm this?

its a game bug

Its because of a bug in the game. the game collision model thinks the seafloor 30 meters above what the Actual seafloor is at . Try putting your boat on the sea-floor in external view and youll see what i mean. Its most likely not fixable.

Ok. Thanks for the info. So if my sounding says the sea floor is 130 meters, consider it closer to 100?

It varies , but there is always some sort of depth error.
