Pic says it all. Both scopes are deployed fully but the attack periscope looks WAY to high. Is this a stock bug or a mod I've got?

The periscope heights were set to historically accurate heights in my UIs mod. No bug but rather feature :DL

So you're saying the attack scope went that high historically? Can't be. I don't think that could physically fit inside the sub when lowered.

I also think that is just much to high. TDW, is that true that I have to be at 16m depth to make the hydro working? I have a huge convoy ahead and when I ask sonarman about details, all he gotta say is.. no contact. Oo

And btw, is any way to make the radio guy to communicate? When is fog, I always run straight into convoys, using real nav my radar is completely useless. This dude is so retarded that he cant even speak or write.

The lower end of the pericope was going down all the way in a tube, from the upper tower tube ending down to the keel. In other words, as high hull and tower together are, so long/high was the periscope - some 16 meters or so i think.
So with it sticking out some 12 meters with 4 left in the tube for stability, it looks perfectly correct.

The attack periscope was indeed taller than the observation scope, but that looks too high to me too. Here is the official plan taken from U-570, a type VII showing the actual heights.

Nice find with the blueprints. I think it's too high. It could be the full length of the periscope is shown in my picture but then there's nothing left "in the tube" to stabilize it.

The length of the scope is "probably" correct in terms of units, but I think that its the scaling in the game that wont make it be correct. The depth scale of the uboat wont fit to stay at periscope depth if you were to scale the scope down to the kind of size you see in the image posted below here. Its the scaling. You would probably have to alter the metric system in the game to have it all perfect. So basically cutting a metric unit in half (just to give an example)

My hydrophone works fine at 12 meters. My sonarman was useless until i installed this mod :-

sobers realistic hydrophone operator SH5. (I was gonna link to the thread, but now I see that sobers mod thread now links to TDW .exe patch). :hmmm:

I'm still using sobers mod with TDW .exe patch and my sonarman works fine.

looks like in order to be accurate to the blueprint, the attack scope should be 1.5 periscope heads taller than observation scope. The "head" starting where it changes color/tapers to new diameter.

The current configuration in TDWUIs seems to be 2.5 "heads" taller.

My hydrophone works fine at 12 meters. My sonarman was useless until i installed this mod :-

:hmmm: - it is strange because the sober's mod has nothing to do with the depth of the hydro and your hidro is supouse to work after -15 metters.. are you surre that your hydro it is working at periscope depth? btw.. i se that now you are playing sh5 by voice:) - do you like to play like this?

@ 11 meter - Sonar guy says " No sound contact" when asked for nearest contact.
So I ordered new depth 12 meters.

@ 12 meters - Before even being asked. He give me a contact at 61 degrees.

you can hide your UI by pressing key ,,DEL'' from your numpad or you have settings on the option.py and you can hide some buttons from UI and they apear only on you put your mouse on the place they are... but when you are in the periscope station you must to have the UI displayed because if not you can not lock target... and about the part with hydro working at 12 metters i am totally lost... some people say is working from -15 metters, some say that they use the no hydro from TDW uis 6.4 after the IRAI v30 no hydro at surface and they have theyr hydro working at periscope depth... to manny diferent behaviors:DL... i know that the sober hydro was about the sonar guy to keep the contact that he spoted and to hear all the contacts from his area.... but now i dunno as i told you to manny diferent hydro behaviors reported by diferent peoples

I also have 'Realistic sound travel' enabled in the sound options. Wonder if this would made any difference to the hydrophone performance (depth wise). :hmmm:

i have this also enabled.. i think that has nothing to do with the hydro:hmmm:
