So last night, I think it's mid-1943, I got Falke torpedoes for the first time.

I went ahead and splurged the renown for them. Loaded myself up with 4 in the front tubes and 2 in the rear.

Left out of Bergen, went around the top, ended up west of the Rockall banks again on my way to BE33.

Came across a convoy, and just went after the escorts. Took out all 4 destroyers without hardly any effort at all. Of course it was not this easy in real life, but in-game I totally mauled that convoy after I stripped away all its defenses. Looks like the game doesn't even require the target to be going 12 knots. Accidentally took out a merchant with one of the Falkes, but the rest I just fire behind the escort a little bit and she hooks around and BLAM! Fun to watch the torp on the TDC screen. :)

It was heavy rain, and low visibility, so I surfaced and made my runs - took out the entire convoy, some 90,000 tons, leaving only 3 small merchants before I ran out of torpedoes. I would have used the deck gun, too, but the weather did not allow it.

And once again, I had the Aquitania in the convoy, and once again, it was foundering and fell behind the convoy. When I found her she was at a dead stop so I put a fish in her and claimed the tonnage.

It seems to me that later in the war now the convoy are having larger ships in them, and I am finding "The Aquitania" quite frequently. I've now sunk her 3 times in 3 days, twice in one patrol.

Remember those old movies you saw with the liberty cargo ships sliding off nto the water on a daily basis?

Well...

What they didn't tell you was that in the shipyard next to that one, the Aquitania's were being built almost as fast! It's just that the Liberty shipyard had a better PR department.

And be careful with those eels. Misuse them and you end up with your own subsim based webcomic.

I did!
