Well that was it for U 47
Attack on a heavily escorted convoy in AM 53 in 1942. 1 tanker and 2 C2 were not enough for the arrogant skipper of U47 who instead of fleeing decided to hold on a little to long.
After 2 hours of hide and seek with 4 destroyers and a corvette, U47 was lost with all crew... At least it must have cost them a fortune. The destroyers nust have spend half of USA's budget depth charging me ;)

Back to 1939 restarting career...:nope:

And i guess reloading a save just before this event is kind of not realistic is it?

I could but it was pure stupidity, so i guess restarting is a "punishment" i should suffer.:yep:

An i always get a kick starting up with a new crew

At least you have learned your lesson: Fire - turn around and leave as far as possible.

Better luck with your new career.

a lesson i have learnt many times. and sometimes still cant grasp. but, if you put your crew FIRST each time in these situations you will probably live longer - but thats no quarantee, is it?
maybe thats why so many of the Aces died very quickly early on...?

Initially when I started to play this game I was all guns blazing and approached it like an arcade shoot em up...when I learned to play "correctly" mainly from here, I always put the crew first and have to say I get a lot more enjoyment out of it.

One of the things I love about the game. Any time I am sunk (or nearly sunk), I can always point to at least one error in judgement, or something I forgot to consider.

At least I very rarely make bonehead mistakes any more, but I still rarely see 1944.
