Since it's been god know's how many years since I last played Deus Ex 1(and I never finished it :P), and I never played 2(although some would say this is a good thing :haha:) I've gone out and bought the collection on steam(Does that really count as going out and buying?).

Anyways, the main point of this thread is to ask are their any mods I should get? More so in the region of better graphics?

Hey man,

I don't know about any graphics mods but once you've finished playing through it you can download this super mod which basically provides you with an additional single player game. You can check it out here:

http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-nameless-mod

and official page:

http://thenamelessmod.com/

But if you like the look of it play through deus ex before you start it.

edit: Oh, I just found this article which is about mods and tweaks for Deus ex vanilla which improve graphics, I have no experience with them but you may want to take a look:

I played Deus Ex when it first came out and to be honest it looked pretty ugly even then in comparison with other 3D games and FPS engine games of the same period. But stick with it, the game play and the story are immense and not to be missed!

You're going to want , at a minimum, the Shifter mod (http://sites.google.com/site/yukichigai/shifter) (many many unofficial bug fixes and tweaks to make the game work as intended/better without making sweeping changes it) and the High Definition Texture Pack (http://www.offtopicproductions.com/hdtp/) (exactly what it sounds like).

There's also some updated Direct3D renderers that help the engine look better on modern systems. One such is here: http://kentie.net/article/d3d10drv/

The whole going out part is overrated anyway. :O:

Dunno. I played through about half of it and then put it on the shelf. Never went back. It's not that it was a terrible game....just a mediocre one. But Deus Ex set the bar so high that it was a very big letdown.

I concur. I should not have to get in my car, drive to the store, wait in line and interact with people in the process of buying video games.

Signing a UPS delivery is 10x easier. Too bad few games get delivered on release date, and UPS doesn't show up until 4-5PM while stores will have the game ready at 10am.
