Hi. I have a problem with a mod.
"HiDef Realistic Interface V1.0" mod. I just love the periscope graphics and sounds. My problem is that I pretty much hate all the SH3 menu's and dialogs that have replaced the nice standard SH5 menu's.
Can anyone help me, guide me to what files I need to keep and what to throw away to just keep the periscope graphics and sounds? I also want the clicking sound when you turn the periscope

cant say it will work for sure but if you only want the sound and texture part of the mod then delete the remaining files from the mod then try it and see if you get the results your looking for
asking the mod maker for suggestions on doing this would be best way to avoid bad results

I don't have experience modding with sh5, however I have experience modding with other games and I can tell (I dont have to know) that removing everything except the graphics will probably not work well. You probably need some configuration files that tells sh5 where to find its rise/lower periscope button, filter configuration files, sound configuration files what sound to use, overlays for the periscope, you know the different lines of degrees inside the periscope, click/turn sound configuration.
I highly doubt you can just keep the graphics files and expect it to work
The author doesnt seem to respond to any previous replies he had and he have been a long time away
I just hate the fallback to sh3 dialogs, I have no clue why the author did that, its very bad and not intuitive, not better than the standard sh5 way of doing things and the dialogs are very buggy too, you have to manipulate the screen to find the map tools, and every time you exit the map and reenter it the map tools are hidden again, you have to hide the bottom overlay to find the button where to show the map tools, and when you have showed them they appear on the wrong place so you have to click it twice and then show the overlay again. Veeeeeery heavy and bad. He should absolutely have kept the standard sh5 dialogs.
The "Return to course button" is removed and hidden inside 2 or 3 menus, you have to click like a madman to find it. Another thing is that the mod sound stop working after about 10 minutes of playing, it just stops working, you have to restart the game.
The digital depth and speed is removed you can no longer give orders to a depth with precision, its hard to read the data from the depth and speed dials as well.
There are countless bugs with the implementation of sh3 dialogs, which leaves countless of reasons to remove it. I hope the author will adapt to the new sh5 style of doing things.
