Ok here is the deal, I am considering getting a new device for graduate school and I would like it to be capable of doing a couple of things.

Cellphone: Not absolutely essential, but would be nice not to have to need a cell phone too
Note Taking: for taking notes in class
MP3 player
Camera
Interconnect-able with my PC laptop

Ideally it should be small light and portable (smart phone to 10" screen), have at least 8 hour battery life, touch screen, bluetooth, wireless networking, separate portable keyboard accessory available, & reasonably sized screen for note taking. I would be using this in the US, but it cannot be SIM locked (I would probably get it in Canada to avoid that problem).

Anyhow I'm looking for any suggestions

From my own research it is looking like the Iphone 4 + ipad keyboard dock would be my best option. I wish it had a larger screen though. I had considered the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but unfortunately it seems the North American version doesn't seem to have cellphone functionality.

Thanks but not looking for yet another laptop (tiny or not). My studio xps 16 is fine as is, but a bit bulky for carrying to class all the time. This is why I am trying to combine as many devices together as possible (I'll need to get a cell phone too, hence why i would want it to be able to function as a cell).

you planning on using it with a plan?

if not just get a palm pre, cheap and gets everything done well

if you are though, just get one of those blackberries

as for the external keyboard, a phone plus keyboard is only marginally better in mobility than a laptop

and it sure looks odd

also, you will be straining to see the text
