Well, after having to start yet another campaign due to the Chosokabe clan steam rolling me and my allies(bit unexpected too), I've decided to document my newest campaign via AAR.

As I'm going to bed soon, posting this thread is just to make me actually go through with it in the morning. Hopefully I don't get sick(I got sick when I started my ETW AAR, and also when I wanted to start my RTW AAR 2 weeks ago. :haha:)

Anyways some information on the AAR:
I'll be playing as the Shimazu,it'll be a long campaign, and I'll be playing it Dead is Dead, so if I start to lose, I'll play it until my clan is wiped out. Any major battles, or battles in which I do extremely good in will be uploaded to youtube.

In the beginning we have only one meager province. The good thing about this province is that it comes with a blacksmith, perfect for forging quality steel katanas for our warriors.

General Tanegashima Tomokata is ordered towards our Eastern border, where he awaits reinforcements. His orders are to attack Osumi, a province belonging to our long time enemies, the Ito Clan. In this turn a Harbour is constructed and the farms are upgraded.

News arrives that the great clan Oda has been destroyed in the Summer of 1545. One less enemy to deal with.

In the winter of 1545, General Tanegashima Tomokata marches on Osumi. He arrives to find only a handful of Samurai retainers left behind to defend it.

He easily overtakes it, only losing 5 Yari Samurai in the process.

Two Bow Kobayas are ordered for construction. They will be used to hold the nearby trade lanes until we can get trade ships built.

The War of 1546
In the summer of 1546, General Tomokata moves his forces into the Hyuga province. He encounters an army consisting of the Ito Daimyo, Yoshisuke.
The battle of Kokubu 1546 is the battle in which Ito Yoshisuke lost his life.

Daimyo Ito Yoshisuke, and the General that was with him both lie dead in the field.

He should return to Osumi to replenish his troop numbers and recruit new units. But his latest battle has him foolhardy and eager for more blood. He continues his march on towards the enemy stronghold of Saito.

The siege of Saito, will it be General Tanegashima Tomokata's latest victory or his downfall?

Tomokata loses the battle of Saito and retreats. Before he can pull back to Osumi. He is able to escape with his life, but he wont have it for much longer.

After pulling back(and I don't have pictures of this) the enemy army chases Tomokata down. The Shimazu units of this final battle are Tomokata's wounded guard, 1 unit of Bow Ashigaru, and 43 Yari Ashigaru. The Bow ashigaru set up defences and await for the enemy onslaught, meanwhile the Yari ashigaru hide in a nearby forest ready to ambush the enemy general. The enemy consists of the General, two wounded units of Yari, and one unit of bow ashigaru.

The general and the bow ashigaru hang back while the two units of yari advanced towards our bow units. The enemy general is right infront of our Yari, and so they decide to charge. Alas too early, as one of the enemy yari turns back and stops their charge short. Meanwhile Tomokata makes a charge at the enemies Bow Ashigaru. If the attack had gone to plan, our general would have decimated the Bow ashigaru, and our Yari ashigaru would have decimated the enemy general. But fate was not on ourside. Our Yari are able to beat back the enemy yari, but our general enters battle with the enemy general and shortly afterwords is killed.

Daimyo Shimazu Takahisa rides out to Osumi, and starts preparing troops for a counter attack. The Ito can not continue living after such a victory.

Autumn 1547
With Autumn comes the finishing of the construction on the trade harbor, with the influx of funds from the trade harbor the Daimyo orders that the black smith be turned into a weapon smith for forging quality steel katanas.

Our counter-offer, which they refuse. As soon as our troops are replenished, the Daimyo will lead them into an assault on the last Ito territory.

In the Spring of 1553, the Ouchi besiege Higo. In the end the Sagara are able to beat back the Ouchi. This is a win for our clan as it has mortally wounded the Sagara.

I myself have to finish The Sabotuer, Dead Space 1, Mass Effect 1, Littlebigplanet 2, the two expansions for GTA4, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Red Dead Redemption, Tales from Space: About A blob, Dragon Age 1+expansions, Killzone 3,Yakuza 3(Yakuza 4 just came out), Gears of War 2, Halo:ODST and Darksiders.

I need to start Mass Effect 2+DLC, 3D Dot Heroes,Halo 3, Halo Reach and DeadSpace 2.

On top of that I want to pick up Demon Souls, Vanquish, and Rachet&Clank A crack in time.(Buy 2 get the 3rd free via Gamestop rewards thing :D)

Hopefully I can work through my backlog before Dues Ex, Infamous 2, Uncharted 3, L.A. Noire, Mass Effect 3, Gears of War 3, Socom 4,Portal 2, The Ico Collection,Batman Arkham City, Skyrim, The final Ico game, and god knows what else I missed.

With Higo Province currently under our control, we now have access to superior horses. Our glorious clan will now focus on securing the whole Kyushu island. Meanwhile, we'll also start building a large navy in order to secure Kyushu from naval assault. The only other clans currently inhabiting Kyushu are the Shoni, and the Ouchi. We will assault the Ouchi first due to their Christian beliefs, and the fact that they are the weaker of the two clans.

Spring 1554
In Higo province Shimazu Yoshihisa is busy replenishing units lost in the siege.

In waging war with the Ouchi, we angered the Shoni, as the Ouchi were a Vassal of the Shoni. While we were going to wait to go to war with the Shoni, starting the hostilities now will not hinder our plans.

I ran into it on one of my previous Shimazu playthroughs and actually saw it off the coast of Japan. But I didn't have a sufficient navy to attack it.

And yeah My last Shimazu playthrough was a lot harder than this one. I had chosen to Ally with the Sagara, who beat me to the punch and took over most of the Kyushu island plus the Southern= tip of Honshu. And then they went to war with Chokosabe, who pretty much steam rolled everyone in their way.

You definitely can't be constantly at war in this game or you'll lose. Unless you decide to sack settlements instead of occupying them.

We offer the Mori a trade deal, and they counter offer us a Military Alliance. Although they are in territory we will soon be attacking, the military alliance will keep them off our backs for a short while.

As a side note: I was wondering why I was lagging through one of my battles, turns out my power plug was unplugged. Computer runs slower on battery power.

Date and Takeda go to war. Considering Date just came back from being wiped off the map, this may not be a good thing for them.

I see the Chosokabe are doing well in your campaign. Good for them. Since I got Shogun 2 (curse you Spike!) I started off with the Chosokabe, I own Shikoku and now I'm aiming to get Kyushu next. Provided my vassal on Shikoku doesnt backstab me. I took a bit too long to secure Shikoku though, its 1560, got 40 more years to nab the rest of the provinces I need.

Started playing as Chokosabe too, cleared the starting island and then headed to Shimatzu territory by landing troops south of the citadel city of Satsuma, which was undefended with the exception of the retainers. Captured that and the city to the east of it, then landed my 2nd army in and pushed north.

Atm, Shimatzu are dead and I have 3 vassals doing the dirty work for me and pumping in loads of money, making my income 7000-8000 per turn. :D
