Bypass 1.5 activation

Greetings folks,

I got a new Dell XPS with the latest gen i7 (2720QM) and the intel/nvidia graphics set up. First thing I did was to install SH IV and 1.5.

Sadly I'm out of activations. :damn:

I went to UBI online and did the "Ask a Question", but I suspect I won't be hearing from them.

I hate to ask this as I really prefer letgit software. But is there any way - short of just using 1.4 - to get around the activation?

'Activations'? Is your copy the download version? I have the 'Gold' disc version, and I've never activated anything. Obviously the only thing I can recomend is to get that version. Sorry I don't have any other answers.

Also, legit versions are the only kind allowed for discussion here. Anyone linking you to any other kind would be facing a permanent ban.

I got the downloaded version. I just now received an email stating my code has been reset.

So the Gold version of SH IV doesn't have any activation requirements? Hmmmm....might have to look into that.

Had a problem with this myself last week. Rebuilt a computer, went to install my 1.5 download. "Unknown error." Got a rather quick response from support resetting something, and it ran just fine.

I was about five minutes from heading to the store to pick up a disc when I got the email.

Because of a computer problem, I had to do a full re-install. Due to a scratched disk, I had to buy a new copy of SH4 :damn:

Good news is that SH4 is about $9.00 these days. I did not buy any "gold" version.

When I installed the game, there was no authentication or activation at all.

At no time was I ever asked to enter in the CD key code or anything.

I just got the gold edition for 9.99$ at Direct2Drive for my laptop. Now I won't dread long and boring meetings anymore!

Right now, I have the DL version installed and running. So far, I haven't had any probs with the DL version but, just in case of an unforeseen meltdown, I purchased a hardcopy of SHIV Gold Edition. Haven't had to install it yet but, there is an activation code listed on one of the inserts that came with the CD.:hmmm: I guess I'll find out if I need it, if there ever comes a time to install it.

Hey, I rebuilt and reformatted my computer a few weeks back. Silenthunter 4 and patch 1.4 install just fine. I went to install 1.5, and when i try to run the program, it asks for a key. Now i bought 1.5 a few years ago, and i dont have the key in my email anymore. I tryed to have it sent to my email, but the credit card i bought it with has been long expired and i don't remember the last 4 digits to retrieve the key, let alone the order #.

Anyway, can someone point me the direction to the ubi email address in above posts. I been to their site and can't frickin find it. It drives me crazy that software that i purchased, cannot be used!

I registered the product last night after installing, but have no idea on who to contact about this.

I have searched all over their crap site looking for a support email address for games that I have PURCHASED and cannot find squat....I have long got rid of the credit card i used to purchase the product so i cant find it that way, i deleted the email ages ago with my activation key. I would buy again, but i have twice already since release. 3 yr old patch is still 10 dollars too!

Someone please point me to the ubi support mentioned above............

This is really pissssing me off! I am going to go to my bank tomorrow and see if they can give me my last CC#

Wow, a year later and here I am again.

Had to wipe and re-install. Now the UBI purchase of 1.5 requires a key and online activation. God I hate online crap. It ruins any game. I'm so against online requirements. You know damn well years down the road when we want to play this again there's no way we can activate.

I was playing Dungeon Master last night on my Atari emulator. Let's see you play Skyrim 25 years from now.

If anyone is trying to patch up to 1.5 don't purchase the addon from the UBI store. That requires an online activation. And of course you only get one. Then have to go though all the helpdesk stuff to get set back. And that's provided anyone is even going to respond to that.

Went ahead and purchased the Gold edition so I don't have to do this again.

Try a search for "steam" here on Subsim... it's been mentioned sooo often: go for Gold.

And don't install under ´Programs´...
