ARG!!!!
So I find a convoy east of the Rockall bank. I close to make my attack, and low and behold I see the Aquitania in it! But the convoy is a head of me, so I have to do an end around.
I skirt to the south, watching their radar signatures, get in front, and slip in right into their midst.
And the Aquatania is gone! Now a couple of ships are burning, so I think, "Hmmm, I'll backtrack after I'm done with this convoy and see where she is."
So I hit the convoy, and take out 5 or so ships in two attacks, including a Whale Factory ship and a large Tanker and a Large Merchant. About 30,000 tons in all. Not bad.
So I'm out of torpedoes, and I backtrack.
Lo and behold, there she is - the Aquitania, dead in the water.
And I'm out of torpedoes.
And the seas are too rough to man the guns.
She is way down in the water though, dead stop.
And all I can do is watch her sink.
I even tried ramming her 3 times, to see if I could get enough damage for credit for sinking her.
I submerged, and hit high TC, and suddenly she was just gone. I even missed her sinking.
44,000 tons wasted. :(
