Hi all...and Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you all

Can someone point me in the right direction for slide out LARGE dials.

I had Raf gui mod but my PC didn't respond well to it and became very jerky and pixelated. Which is a pity because it had exactly what I wanted in the direction dials on the bottom right hand corner.

The other links I have found seem to outdated now as the files are not available for upload, can someone help with this.

I really just want the big dials and nothing more, I have slideout now but that only give the compass as opposed to individual direction to port and starboard.

Thanks
john

You need this much older mod. It requires you do a little editing yourself, but it's a simple cut-and-paste, and it's well worth it.

The compass in my picture is a much older one, but you will see whichever compass you are using now. I've been using Hitman's U-505 compass for years, but I've never taken a new screenshot.

It works with any and all supermods. Those pictures were taken with GWX3.

One word of warning: The first thing you need to do is follow these directions, or else you'll have two different compass dials, one of which doesn't do anything but sit there. This first step will remove the one that comes with GWX.

Edit the menu_1024_768.ini and find the string [G3F I300] in there.
You've got to delete the following eight blocks (the ones 'g3f i300' to 'g3f i307'). (That's no problem because no blocks are following behind them in this section).
Then third, go to the ...\data\Menu\cfg\Dials.cfg to it's very end and delete the the block there (which begins with [Dial 52]). You should also go to the beginning of the dials.cfg and decrease the DialsNo setting by one.

After that, follow FLB_Sales's instructions precisely. Once I had it the way I like it I copied the menu_1024_768.ini and Dials.cfg and keep them in a safe place. Any time I need to reinstall SH3 the last thing I do is copy those to files and paste them in place. This saves a lot of time and effort.

If you run into any trouble let me know. I've become pretty good at this procedure.

How would one go about getting just the large depth gauge (in addition to the large compass that comes 'stock' with GWX?)?

I'm tired of having to guess at my depth, and then having my orders by +/- 10m (I run windowed, it's a tiny dial).

Set depth for 220m!
Jarwol! 212m!
No I said 220m!
Jarwol! 235M!
etc
etc

That's a tough one. Sales's readme gives step-by-step descriptions for each dial, but I don't read German, so I'm not sure which dial is which. Of course I personally don't understand why anyone wouldn't want the others, but that puts us firmly into "opinion" territory. All I can suggest is read the readme thoroughly until you figure out which dial is which.

kk I'll it give a spin.

I want the large compass and depth gauge, but not the telegraph (right word?) because i use the keyboard, and then just click slightly below 1 knot for silent running. it's never been an issue with me. But guessing at my depth orders when I like to flirt with crush depth can be an issue. And the compass is a must. I just wish there wasn't any lag in it when i change orders while in a turn. I sometimes end up 10-15' off from what I ordered.

And I wonder if one could mod the very center of the slide out compass to be the return to course button....
