strange update problem

Every 1-3 days, I get a popup-window saying that there is a problem with updating, and that 0x0043026e tries to write into memory adress 0x0000000c, but in vain, and the command could not be executed.

I wonder what this is about. I googled, but found not much, just a reference toi a possible trojan named csrss, and that it is a trojan if not located inside windows/system32. Well, the file is there, and in system32, so it is correct (and a needed file). I nevertheless scanned it with Avira Premium and Malware Antibyte, I also had it uploaded at VirusTotal. No alarms.

So, how could I find out to what process the mentioned error message is linked? Does anybody know what it is?

The system is newly setup, and of course has been fully scanned. Win7 Prof 64Bit over here.

If you know which module is screwing up, you can track it down in Resource Monitor. Tick the process you want to check, and go through associated modules.

With a good 60 processes running here it would be a tedious process though, but at least you know which programs depend on it or refer to it... has to be an easier way. :hmmm:

No, I do not know which module is screwing up. I only have those two numbers from the memory reading failure, and the error message's headline saying that an updater.exe is failing to do its job. Which program's updater it is, it does not say.

From control panel pick 'administrative tools' > event viewer > windows logs > application.

What are the German Window's labels for these? Administrative Werkzeuge or Ereignismonitore are not there - not under these labels.

Errors. See which applications are generating them. It will give you very specific information, including an application name.

Ah yes. Doin'T know what all the stuff means, but there are errors, already related to SideBySide, which is something that has to do with the PhonostarPlayer, a radioplayer popular in Germany.

Switching its info-service and auto-update off now. Let's see what happens in the coming days.

If I do not report back, consider the issue as "solved".

If you go to Control Panel -> System and Security -> ActionCenter (solution center) and choose Maintenance, you'll get an option "Show reliability history"...

Nothing serious in errors, just occasional events that I can all link to ongoings like unplugging USB sticks. Nothing that remains a mystery to me or hints at something really failing.

For the update message, I need to wait, it did not show up every day, but every 1-3 days. I have manually switched of some auto-update features in software, to see if it is gone.

It probably is nothing serious anyway, just a minor nuisance. But i would like to know about the reasons, it makes you feel more comfortable.
