This could counter the Libyan oppositions plea for a no fly zone.

Either way the temperature certainly seems to be rising.

:o

Whoa, now it's ratcheting up. Given that the rebels have taken a bloodying in the past few days this is a good victory for them, and it might be enough to drag the story back into the attention of the world briefly.

EDIT: Love the FLASH title by the way TLAM :D

I would also like to know who the 'Free Libyan Air Force is... MiG-23s haven't exactly been cutting edge for a long time, but working fighters are a big step up rebels going around with small arms :hmmm:

I read an article earlier that the rebels had some old aircraft but they refused to use them because of the no fly zone they were hoping for. They also stated that they would bomb the refinery's if the old regime captured them.

Seems like the "Free Libyan Air Force" had a big day today:

- Al Gurdabiyya airbase near Sirt has been subject to air strikes by the defected Free Libyan Airforce

- The defected Free Libyan airforce has bombarded three Gaddafi military convoys headed to the east

- The huge fire that has erupted inside Baab Al Aziziyah [Note from Penguin: airbase south of Tripolis!]was due to a martyr mission using a fighter jet to crash into the compound

This is also interesting:

Libyan revolutionaries captured a Greek ship loaded with fuel headed to the port of AzZawiya off the coast of Tobruk. They have since redirected the ship to the port of Tobruk and have renamed the ship “The revolution of 17th February”.

:o
this sounds really strange, as there have been fights at AzZawiya for the last days. There are also several refineries, so why would a loaded fuel tanker head towards the town?

The Libyan Anti-Government forces also have captured the Frigate Al Hani, and a Nanuchka class missile corvette (http://ntclibya.org/english/media/).

Well, I guess this has definitely turned from an insurgency to a true civil war... :hmmm:

This may prevent Gaddafi from a direct assault on Benghazi, or make him re-think it. Either way, this has totally changed the whole situation:hmmm:.
