Al Qaeda using war in Libya to get a foothold into the region.

I doubt the average Libyan wants this but as history has shown the threat is still there.

There are two common spellings

Gaddafi and Qaddifi Both are acceptable, however, it is bad form to mix them up in the same article. One should pick one spelling.

I my line of work, we usually use Qaddifi, although to be more correct, his name should be written al-Gaddafi or al-Qaddifi

His last name means "of or from" Qaddafa" which is the name of the tribe in which he was born. Sometimes the name of the tribe is written Gaddafa.

This one of the problems with translating Arabic names and words. There are often different spellings.

I wondered how long it would be before AQ would try to get back in the spotlight again, being the attention whores they are. :p2:

However, it could really suck to take down one nasty regime only to see it replaced with another one that is just as bad or worse. :-?

I'd say that it would be right in line with what our [the US] foreign policy has accomplished in the region over the past 30 years. We excel at converting the dangerous into the catastrophic.
