We're heading to San Diego this summer with the kids. We'll be hitting Sea World of course. I promised my son that we'll see this sub and my wife and daughter are interested in being dragged along as well, as long as they can hit the shops.

Just wondering if anyone has visited this submarine and if it is worth it.

We'll probably see the aircraft carrier USS MIdway also. I've heard you can spend a whole day touring her.

If anybody has any other suggestions on places to see and things to do in San Diego, I'm more than interested.

Thanks.
:)

I saw this particular Foxtrot when it was still docked in Seattle back in 2002. Certainty worth a visit since it sounds like it's in better care now.

That museum has two subs now, they just got the USS Dolphin AGSS 555.

Is the Dolphin open for visits already? That'd be really interesting to see...

Don't know. Its listed on their website but it doesn't say anything about its status, just facts taken from Wikipedia. :-?

Having come back from a tour of Midway about a month ago, you absolutely owe it to yourself to get there early and speak with as many people in the yellow USS Midway caps as you can find - just and all around great bunch of guys.

Midway was awesome, just remember to watch your head; if you can get in on one of the superstructure/bridge tours, do that - it's pretty wicked to look out over the flight deck from PriFli.

If I hadn't just received a stunningly gorgeous flight jacket (purchased on board) from my wife for an an anniversary present, I'd probably still be there exploring, learning, and by now, volunteering. :salute:

Totally worth it. If you're gonna be in Diego long enough, look into the GoSanDiego card - it made going to Midway, SeaWorld, and other San Diego area attractions a piece of cake - we recovered our investment for the three day cards easily.
