I saw this at the theater at universal studios(mind you the tickets were hard to get)
It wasn't that good, if you like special effects, go see it
Otherwise, its independence day, without Will Smith, with marines this time

$70 mill. budget.

Some reviews:

Neil Smith of Total Film (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_Film) magazine rated the film as 3 stars out of 5 and summarized "Imagine Black Hawk Down with ET's instead of Somalis (:haha:) and you'll have the measure of an explosive if functional actioner that will do while we're waiting for summer's big guns to arrive".

Kim Newman of Empire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire_%28magazine%29) rated the film 2 stars out of 5 and criticized its lack of originality. Nigel Floyd of Time Out (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Out_%28company%29) rated the film 2 stars saying that it "..lumbers the flat military characters with hackneyed dialogue and corny sentimentality".

Roger Ebert (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Ebert) panned the film, giving it half of one star, heavily criticizing the writing, effects designs, camerawork and editing, stating "Generations of filmmakers devoted their lives to perfecting techniques that a director like Jonathan Liebesman is either ignorant of, or indifferent to. Yet he is given millions of dollars to produce this assault on the attention span of a generation." Adding, "You gotta see the alien battleships in this movie. They seem to have been assembled by the proverbial tornado blowing through a junkyard." :haha:

Looks like another big budget special effects show-off, and nothing else.
Shame, the premise sounded good, even though not original.

Edit: I can hack movies without Will Smith :yep:

Hmm, that looks alright.
Mind you though, they always show the best bits in trailers, wonder what the rest of the movie is like :hmmm:
I've been sucked in like that before, watching a trailer then the movie.

one reason I want to see Priest is the main actor Paul Bettany if anyone is to play a priest warrior from the future hes it. Paul was also in films 'Legion' and Da Vinci code playing parts to do with religion suits him imo. He's been in plenty of films but he stands out best playing as a god-fearing-crazy-man. :DL

Will keep a closer eye out for this, thanks for the headsup, i do like a crazy vampire-killing Priest movie everynow and then.

I hope Priest will be good. Your right though trailers can suck you in thinking its going to be a terrific movie. The Warriors Way did this to me then I watched it the other day and it was terrible. More like a B grade film. Same when I first saw Battle: Los Angeles I thought wow this movie is going to rock but now from what ive read its just another bland action flick. And the trailers seem to end now with the words 'In 3D'!:haha:

Battle: Los Angeles was filmed in Louisiana. :timeout:

From the reviews I've read I'll be passing on this one.

Sounds like I'll just wait for Atlas Shrugged before heading to the theatres again.

Dang, was hoping this one would be good. Still, some of the fancy explosions will be nice to watch anyway, just need to flick the brain switch to off, that's not too hard for me. :haha:

It has Michelle Rodriguez in too, that's always a bonus. :yeah:

Atlas Shrugged? That's gone under my radar, didn't know they had confirmed a film on that.

Check out a film due later this month 'The Eagle', about the Romans in Ancient Britain....now that looks promising.

Yet another film that gives history a kicking? We'll have to see....

The Eagle has been out for some time here and I've seen it.

I didn't expect much and got what I expected. If you expect to see lots of Roman Legion tactical battles forget it.

It is about a Roman Commander and a native slave and their expedition to recover an artifact. (Very basic summary)

Can anyone show me an original film now a days? From Hollywood at least.
They all seem to be remakes, reboots, or a decent idea but crapply done.

Bingo! Same 'ole same 'ole.
Or a decent idea but crap script, or bad actors, or worse still, both.

Probably a bad time to bring up Cowboys and Aliens coming to a cineplex near you this summer? :D

Must admit I find the idea of Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and James Bond (Daniel Craig) teaming up interesting, but the title just sounds dumb.

Yep, you're right, bad idea :haha:

Each to their own i guess.
For me personally that combo right there would put me in a lot of pain.
2 of my least favourite actors.:O:

I saw a TV advert for the film and laugh at it. What a pile of horse sh*t it looked, another lame film with bad acting no doubt.
