These hearings have created a much needed discussion. The left of course is trying to play the political correctness card. The bufoon known as Rep Sheila Jackson Lee(D-TX) managed to get some words in.Muslim Rep Keilth Ellision(D-M) (also known for ties to Louis Farakhan and Nation of Islam) had an "emotional" moment while testifying, crocodile tears most likely. Some patriots of the US who happen to be muslims spoke out about being intimidated in their own community as well as members of their family being radicalized here in America. These hearings are dealing with the enemy within, to ignore this threat is just ignorant.Of course, the left claims there is no need for these hearings, America is just racist and islamophobic:o

Ah while I don't disagree that there are young muslims being radicalised, we have the same issue in the UK, it has been mentioned in the news here that half of all tip offs that lead to arrests come from within the muslim community.
Also wasn't Mr King a staunch supporter of Gerry Adams and the IRA during the time that they were bombing the UK and killing British soldiers and other Irish people? So isn't it a bit of pot calling the kettle black?

Yea, ill admit I do not know much about his support for the IRA.I need to read up on that when have the time. However, he is doing the right thing here in the US as far as islamic terrorism goes.Perhaps his views on violence as a means has changed since then? Just glad we have him to look into this subject, it's something that shouldve happened years ago but the PC crowd had too much clout for a long time.

The problem though it is easy for it to turn into a witch hunt.
Look at the Mcarthy era. Now was communism as big a threat in the US as was made out? I know you can't make an equal comparison but it is something that has to be watched.

yes, Peter King publicly supported IRA terrorist attacks on civilians during the 80s, but what else do you expect from a two faced politician.
Bubblehead1980, I am shocked that you support this guy. :woot:
“We must pledge ourselves to support those brave men and women who this very moment are carrying forth the struggle against British imperialism in the streets of Belfast and Derry,” Mr. King told a pro-I.R.A. rally on Long Island, where he was serving as Nassau County comptroller, in 1982. Three years later he declared, “If civilians are killed in an attack on a military installation, it is certainly regrettable, but I will not morally blame the I.R.A. for it.”

It's a witch hunt. Remember McCarthy's dog and pony show with the Anamerican Activities thing?
We can't just go around targeting only the Muslims. There are more than just Muslim terrorists and extremists in the US. When I think of this Oklahoma City comes to mind, Or the KKK and Aryan brotherhood...a collection of terrorists and extremists that have been here for a long time. Furthermore the Fact that Sen. King Supported the IRA Makes this even more of a travesty. But i suppose its ok because they weren't Muslim. Im all for security and rooting out home grown terror, but only focusing on Muslims is foolish, because not only is it missing the forest in the trees, but its foolish because it will seem like a witch hunt because you are singling out one group.

Actually it turns out many of the people McCarthy accused were indeed communists, he knew it but could not really prove it at the time, then the media(leftist even then) turn against him and demonized him, people trusted the media more in those days. Many Soviet documents and files discovered after the collapse showed much of what McCarthy said to be true.
King was wrong to support the IRA but he is right in addressing the major terror threat to the US from within, radical islam. Instead of going the PC route the left wants and never discussing it, then wondering why? when an attack from within is successful and our citizens are killed.

“Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?”
The leftist media back then? How is it leftist to expose methods that violated civil rights?
I'd also like to see proof that Charlie Chaplin was indeed a communist.

The leftist media back then?
Come on, it was the liberal leftist jewish media.
They were plotting to take over America with their unamericaness.
I'd also like to see proof that Charlie Chaplin was indeed a communist.
He didn't like Hitler and was a suspected european, what more proof do you need.
Bubblehead1980, I am shocked that you support this guy.
But he is a true patrioty american with the letter, how can you not support him?

Reading about King's support for the IRA. That's pretty awful.
It's pretty clear that this chap doesn't have a problem with terrorism of a certain religious/political bent. Which I suppose explains why the hearings are pointed directly at a religious group that, frankly, hasn't quite distinguished itself in the domestic terrorism field.

Was? He still is.

This could not describe the situation better:
"My problem with him is the hypocrisy," said Tom Parker, a counterterrorism specialist at Amnesty International who was injured by an IRA bomb that struck a birthday party at a military hall in London in 1990. "If you say that terrorist violence is acceptable in one setting because you happen to agree with the cause, then you lose the authority to condemn it in another setting."

Imagine there would have been a Mcarthy-style witch hunt against NSDAP people in the early 30s in Germany.

And now we have a NY Rabbi condemning King for a witch-hunt and ignoring terrorism and extremism in a narrow crusade against a single religion.
King really is managing to line himself up to get shot down isn't he.

Come on Tchocky, you must have met dozens like him in the states, they come out like an irritating rash.

I don't know why everyone is shock at this Guy's show.
My rule of thumb is:
If they are a Professional Politician, everything they say and do is suspect.
Most are Rich SOB's that only want to get richer off our backs.
If they were so concerned with anything else why don't they vote thier pay DOWN?
Not like it would hurt them like a 10 percent loss in pay hurts me!
This Clown has something more up his sleeve.
This is just the Dog part of the total show.

I've met a few, yeah, though not any more than you meet at home, frankly.
I come from right up under the border, El Paso, so you might say I'm a bit more jaded than others. Sometimes it seems like half the country are raving 'ra-heads, when really they're just not as bloody fed up with the godforsaken province as me.
The nice thing about the overenthusiastic Irish-American NORAID type is you don't always have to listen. Because the image of Ireland in the US is hardly accurate you can't blame some people for getting the wrong idea. Same the other way round, I suppose.
As for Mr King's hearings, it's hard for me to understand why some people don't think this is a bad idea in its current formation.
