View Full Version : Mexico police chief Marisol Valles seeks US asylum
Mexico's youngest police chief, Marisol Valles Garcia, has fled to the US after apparently receiving death threats, immigration officials have confirmed.
Ms Garcia attracted worldwide attention last year when she became police chief of a border town plagued by drug-related violence because no-one else dared take the job.
She is now seeking asylum in Texas after fleeing across the border.
Ms Garcia was sacked from her post on Monday for being absent without leave.

Mexico is really falling apart. It's becoming a fail nation. You can't build a nation economy on drugs.
Demand must be high from the US on the other hand . . . . .
It may only be time until US send in the ground troops :hmmm:
i doubt Mexico will get that bad. i live here i see things 1st hand and "narcos" are a problem but if the S**t hits the fan the population alone could stick it to the drug lords (hopefully not in a full revolutionary way)
All i can say is that the Mexican government turned a damned blind eye to the drug lord problem for about 30 years and now that they try to do something about the problem it came back and bit them in the a$$.:nope:
a few years ago a drug tunnel was found here in the town were i live and the next day the police chef was shot dead in his house:down:

I read that more people have died in this drug war than the whole united states deaths in Vietnam, that is a pretty grim statistic.
It's only going to get worse before it gets better. I feel sorry for this girl but she should have known that she was going to get at least a death threat.
So someone calls her and threatens her life and she runs here for asylum?
What did she expect?
Well if they want that job position filled they should fill it with a Marine Corps Platoon. That will bring order real quick after they build their new jail with body bags of drug cartel members. Just an idea :hmmm:

There's so much a person could take. I completely understand her position. It's better to try and fail your courage and retreat then never even trying or wasting your life without good reason. She is brave even now.
It's certainly going to get worse and worse. You could probably argue living under dictatorship a better choice than this.
She will not have problems with obtaining visas in U.S.

Actually I read quite the opposite. Asylum is usually granted against hostile, repressive governments where persecution is based on race religion or gender and since the US doesn't see the Mexican government as hostile she has no legal standing.
In this particular case we see it safe, as an exception since her days may be numbered if she returns

Ok, but if the US has to send in troops to fix Mexico, then as payment, Mexico has to take Texas and Arizona :D It is only fair.

Losing Texas?! SOLD!!! No more steak for you :O:
Besides theoretically speaking all your government need to do is to send in a single Harley bike with this guy on it.

The U.S. is falling apart too. If things keep going the way they have been, Americans may start fleeing south.
I doubt we would send troops into Mexico. If we are unable or unwilling to police our own border, why would we send troops to police a foriegn country? Soon, we will not be able to aford any foriegn interventions. Maybe China would send troops.
Send a PM and ask, if they want to go in with troops :O:
