No credit for sinkings

Just finished patrol 1.
Left Wilhelmshaven 1.sep.39.
Returned to same 4.okt.39.
Sunk 6 vessels for 21.603 GRT.
Came under air attack once.
AM53 was void of RN units except for a lone convoy escort.

My mission sumary says "Career Start Date 0/0/0".
Gives no credit or renown for sinkings.
In the barracks I was allowed to give a qualification, but no medals.
There my renown was listed as 1970 (up from 500 at start).

Never run into this before.
Is it just a one patrol screw-up or, should the entire career be abandoned?
Or, would going back to my at sea save (West of Scapa Flow) be in order?

A trash the career bug (that I can still live with)?
Or a permanent bug (that I better figure out)?

Wasn't there something about not upgrading your boat or crew before the first patrol? I can't remember exactly, but I think upgrading your U boat equipment or changing your crew before the first patrol (one of these two, I'm not sure) causes you to receive no renown for your first patrol. After that, there's no problem. But as I said I'm not completely sure.

If you upgrade your boat before starting the first patrol you run the risk of losing all renown for that patrol. Changing anything that causes a delay of the start date causes that problem.

Didn't do any upgrades. Always wait for patrol 2 to get the better hydrophones.

The thing that I find very interesting is the "Career Start Date 0/0/0".
Never saw that one before.

Yes that's a new one for me too. Another thing that comes to mind; did you start your career using Sh3commander? Maybe you entered different start dates in sh3commander and Sh3 itself?
I'm not sure, but this sounds just like a problem that could be caused by that I imagine.

Go into the files I mention and edit them to correctly reflect the sinkings, then complete a second patrol. I think you get the correct renown awarded after that.

Don't have Commander. I tend more towards a "do it yourselfer" type when posible.

errr.... I think i edited the date, not sure though.

IIRC, I just went through the file, and edited everything that was in error.

Backup the file first!

After editing it, a lot of the results still did not show up, but after completing a second patrol, it went through ok.

I may just try the second patrol without editing.
Because I run Boat (instead of Captain) careers I always have to do all the math anyway. It's just a shame that my Damage Controlman didn't get his Iron Cross Second Class. His department realy needs some beefing up.

The crew did get their 9 experience points from Patrol 1.
I did get full renown credit from Patrol 1.
The tonnage and sinkings themselves drom Patrol 1 were not credited.

Everything from Patrol 2 was credited.

So the only thing that was realy lost was one medal for my damagecontrolman.
The math I do for each boat anyway.

It didn't corrupt the whole career, so I'm a happy camper.
