Status Reports

In order to get an objective on a sighting is it sufficient to have map contacts when you send a status report, or do you need crosshairs on target ?

And, will this work at all if you have not yet achieved your patrol objective?

As long as you have contacts ie tf and a bb and a cruiser is present on your contact screen you send the contact report you will get a reply in one of 3 ways depending what mod you got running.1 will be additional forces on route,sod off and return to base at your disgrestion (yeh right)
2, attack tankers in tf.3Inflict heavy damage on one said task force.
personnally send nothing and attack.

Most the time I have to make a visual contact with one of the main ships in the group, but I never send contact reports, can alert the group.

Generally, I shoot first and send contact reports afterwards.

Didn't know they could alert IJN though.
