Well, I was inspired to start my own LP. So I got fraps and started recording an adventure!

Here is my you tube Channel check it out, and any tips/comments would be great. As you can see I kind of have a quick Manuel target solution strategy worked out.

Note: For this LP, I am recording absolutely everything, completely uncut. Even CTD's to show everyone the pleasure, excitement, frustration, and patience in this title Silent Hunter 3. How it really is, everything you will see for your experience.

After getting done with my patrol (Dead), I come here and watch yours.
And enjoyed it imensely!

Got to Part 4 so far, and am having a good time watching your videos, mods, and style of play. Realy cool!

My SH3 is nothing like that graphics wise, is the interior of the sub different because of the expansion pack? Plus the map and instruments are different on mine, again becasue of the expansion pack or is it the mods ??

The interior should be the same with Jim's and the GWX team's mod :DL For the map tools I'm using MaGUI widescreen. On my youtube channel I have the list of allt he mods, and it is a great out of box setup. Goodluck! :up:

If you saw one of the parts, I intercepted a Danish Tanker, we met up went aboard, and because we're at peace time, exchanged german beer for danish kringles :)

Jimbuna runs the flotilla com station when not at sea.
Unless forced under, I never dive before recieving a reply to my messages.
His replies can be harsh, but I'm always grateful that they're equaly fast in coming.

I was watching one of your videos today.

you were tracking a cargo ship and explaining what you were doing.
Then as you were looking through the scope you spotted a full convoy and the delight and surprise in your voice was absolutely classic...I was laughing as I listened to you getting excited as you began tracking the convoy....great vids...keep them comming

"Did you know" . . .
That if you expose your scope at under 2000 meters, while traveling over 2 knots, your detection is almost guaranteed?
We leave a pretty visible wake at higher speeds and close to the surface too.

Keep up the good work. Realy enjoyable videos.
Super interesting to watch, as we operate so differently.

Patrol 3 is being uploaded now! I'm changing the titles, so first time viewers and those who do not want to watch all the videos, can choose which patrol they would like to watch if not all of them from the beginning.

All patrols are seperated by playlists now. So you can now just jump into a patrol not having to find which video starts off with etc... Also, I recommend for first time viewers the 1st patrol at least. The whole 3rd patrol is now uploaded :)

I use FRAPS to record, works like a treat here!
What settings and what version of FRAPS do you use mengle?
FRAPS has been known to crash when attempting to record cutscenes, or if the user system isn't up to speed.
v 3.3.2 is the newest.

there's a lot of changes since then, bug fixes addressed.
I just forked out for the newest version.
50 fps recording, full-size, record win 7 sound stereo.
No res fix needed.
I'd update. What specs you running?
v2.9.8 only started supporting DirectX 10 games, 2009.

Torpedo Settings:

3 meters impact. Always what I use.
"Why" isn't even related to SH3 mechanics, but an Otto Kretschmer interview I saw. He said the torpedoes were running deeper than set, and that 3 meters was as shallow as the torpedo could be set without being considered a surface runner. So that's what he used.

The magnetic pistols were soon to be banned for quite some time while bugs were worked out.

Perhaps, if your torpedoes ran deeper than your settings they bounced off the curved underside of the hull? Just a thought. Our games are modded differently so, what works for one, may fail for another.

What encoding tool are you using?
I'm using StaxRip here, which does an awesome job.

Nice video.
I'm back after about 18 months to play SH3 again.
I ran out of time to play before, plus vista and w7 was such a PITA to get this game working on.
So I built a box yesterday to start playing SH3 on again (skt939 mobo I had lying around, amd 4200+ and ati x800gto and winXP)
Just started my first mission with sh3 and GW3 and chugging along through the keil canal.

No doubt I going to have to reread this entire subforum :) for all the tips, tricks and info to get back on an even keil :)
