everyone tells me that you need a really good CPU to run FM_Interior mod.

Can I run it?
Windows 7 64-Bit
AMD Sempron(tm) Processor LE-1200 2.1GHz
2.9 GB RAM
Video Card: GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 with 1.3 GB Video RAM

Do you use 4GbPatch? Itīs highly recommended; you have 2,9 Gb RAM and SH3.exe only use 2 Gb...(without 4GbPatch). For complete use of your RAM, try the 4GbParch.

Best regards.

Have you installed the patch?

It's easy to know, yep, either you installed it or you didn't. It doesn't come standard. And anyway if you did and forgot and tried to do it again it would just tell you that it was already done.

BTW it's Flak Monkey, not Funky Monkey, but I am going to think of him as Funky Monkey from now on so thanks for the perpetual source of giggles. :D

Is your computer dual-core or more? I can run it on my old single-core system, but it's really pushing the limits and it doesn't like some of the other big mods I have.

I'll bet when he sees that he wishes he'd thought of it.

Collin Dougherty

Im having a problem with The 4GB patch.
Were do I put it? like what path?
I tried steam/steamapps/common/silent hunter 3
But it sais the path is unknown. and when I tried putting it in any of the other SH3 folders it said it dosent need patches or someting like that.

frau kaleun

It doesn't go in your game folder, you can save it to your local drive wherever you want or in the place you normally save downloaded stuff.

What you'll get is an installer that you run and direct to the SH3.exe file in your game folder, and it installs the patch to the game for you.

I can't remember if it comes zipped or not but if so just extract it wherever you saved the download and then run the installer for the patch. You want the one that is for the Starforce-free version of the game, since your copy is new and won't have Starforce DRM on it.

Edit: on second closer reading it looks like you're already trying to run the installer and it's not installing? What it patches, specifically, is the SH3.exe file, wherever that's located in your Steam installation.

I know thats what Im doing. I have it downloaded in my downloads, I run the application and try putting it in Program files/steam/steamappps/common/silent hunter 3.
It sais its unknown.

Collin Dougherty
02-28-11, 03:43 PM
Here I will list my exact steps lol.

I Extracted the file into my downloads. went into downloads and read the readme. Opened up the Starforce free version. I clicked next.
The standard is ubisoft/silent hunter 3 but i have it on steam so i go to c:/
then click Program files x86
then steam/steamapps/common/silent hunter 3.

The exact words are C://PROGRAM FILES86X/STEAM/STEAMAPPS/SILENT HUNTER 3/SH3.exe : unknown version

Send me a link to download your SH3.exe file.
I'll check it out with the 4 gig patch.

I'd assume a 17 year old could upload a file to somewhere.
:hmmm:
If you don't know how?
Congratulations!!
:woot:
You are not a Geek nor a Nerd!
:har:
(Those tags get you beat up or harrased!)

Find the sh3.exe file and use winzip or 7zip to pack it.
Go to www.mediafire.com (http://www.mediafire.com) and upload it.
post the link here.

That should keep you busy all nite.

If you use windows then you can press F3 and type SH3.exe in the search box that pops up... it'll find the file for you.

edit: As frau Kaleun points out, later versions of windows probably won't initially show you the file extension, but as far as I'm aware it is the only file called sh3 in the Silent hunter 3 install directory... and you can right click properties to check it out if you need to.

frau kaleun
02-28-11, 05:24 PM
The file wouldn't be hidden because of some setting in Folder Options, would it? Does Windows hide anything by default besides system and OS files?

Or maybe it's set not to show extensions for known file types so the '.exe' isn't on the filename... :hmmm:

Madox58
02-28-11, 05:31 PM
Do you have a desktop shortcut?
Right click and click properties.
That will tell you where it's at.

And you Damned sure ain't no Geek!
A Geek would have it uploaded already.
Where a Nerd would argue with me about which compression software
would be better to use!
:har:

FlankSpeed

I would think he mean't for you to copy it before you compress

Madox58
02-28-11, 05:46 PM
OK.
One step at a time.
:nope:
You want to compress the sh3.exe to a file.
That will not remove the sh3.exe file, nor mess with it!
You upload the compressed file.
I download it and test.
Then I come back and tell you what's up.

If I was closer?
I'd slap you on the back of the head like in NCIS.
:haha:

frau kaleun
02-28-11, 05:47 PM
Yes, make a copy of the file somewhere else on your hard drive, compress and upload that.

You may want to make a copy of the 'Steam-installed' SH3.exe. Applying the 4GB patch modifies that file. Without a backup, you'll be forced to reinstall the whole game if something goes wrong.

Madox58
02-28-11, 06:14 PM
Nothing ever goes wrong with the patch I did.
It does one thing and one thing only.
But you need to apply it correctly.
Or it just won't do anything.

Don't worry about Privateer's little jibes. He's not only a geek and a nerd, but he's a programmer as well, so he sometimes runs out of patience with us mere mortals.

Worse, he's a biker too, so there's that mentality to deal with on top of the rest.

Ya, I'm a bit on the wild side.
:03:

I have the file now.
I'll patch it and up load it for you.
Make sure you copy the original to a safe place just in case you need it.
(I can't see why you'd need it but better safe then sorry.)

And I wasn't picking on you Mate.
Just haveing a bit of fun with you.
:D

Just imagine what my kids had to live with everyday!
:o
And they turned out OK.
My son has his own business and netted 1.25 Million last year.
His sister has done some modeling work.
And the StepSon followed what I taught him and works in the Computer field.

OK.
So the Steam versions are different from what the 4 gig patch I did will patch.
:hmmm:

I'll create another version if someone else with a Steam version can send me the SH3.exe for compairing.
I'd also like to see several other files in the Root SH3 folder.
I'll list the names later.

But here's a patched version anyway.

Wow, this patch works like a charm.
Either that or I got alot better overnight.
On my second patrol.
First I sunk a french straggler on the way to patrol west africa. I docked of the coast somewere. Now im heading back to wilhelmshaven (NULL) and I got 6 merchants all british including a 8000 tonnage cargo.
I was chasing a task force down the east coast of Britan but I just realized I only have 2 torpedo's left.
Heading home I guess :p

Madox58

You must have gotten better.
The patch does not affect Game play.
Only allows SH3.exe to use more memory.
