Anyone here enjoy Hearts of Iron 3?

I just ordered with along with another game.

Raptor recommended it too and I always enjoyed HoI 2 very much.


How is it now after the patches?

Still have time to change my order if this game sucks :D

And if it's now great looking forward for some multi player friend though I know it's unlikely.

I still recommend it, in fact I think it is superior to HoI2, but don't expect it to be 'HoI2-but-better' or you'll be disappointed. The game is a lot more complex, especially with regards to the combat, unit count and supply, and some mechanics are aiming for a much different effect than those in HoI2 so they may seem weird.

As for the bugs, after the patches and the expansion, the game is quite stable and lacks major game killing bugs in my opinion. People still complain about everything being broken, and the game running horribly slow, of course, but I haven't seen too much of that after the initial versions to be honest. It's not perfect, or even as good as HoI2 after all its expansions and patches, but it sure is better than many people try to make it look.

Thanks raptor is it still worth buying without buying the expansion?

I read supply is still bugged. Just how slow would it run?
I enjoyed HoI 2 very much. But if HoI 3 if still suffering from pretty substantial bug without the expansion I will not be buying it. I don't like the fact that they last patch HoI 3 a long time ago and has since quit giving it further support(unlike games such as ArmA 2!!!).

I've changed my order to Dragon Age 2 but I can change it back. I can always buy EA games substantially cheaper here locally than ordering it from abroad.

Well, HoI3 1.4 is playable, since I ran a pretty successful game under that. But the expansion is really a big improvement, so I'd say it's not really worth getting without the expansion. I still hear people complaining about the bugged supply, but I haven't had many problems with, except where I should've had problems of course.

They also stopped making patches for HoI2 when the expansions for that came out...

Umm HoI 2 wasn't riddled with bugs when it came out.

I'll wait for their gold edition or something with the expansion in it. But I suspect they will not even release such version at least not retail and not anytime soon.
