View Full Version : Palin-Inspired Character Named After Terrorist?
The CBS drama “The Good Wife” has raised a few eyebrows by naming Gary Cole’s character, a ballistics expert, Tea Party member, and Sarah Palin supporter, “Kurt McVeigh,” a not so subtle comparison to Timothy McVeigh, the man behind the 1995 Oklahoma City bombings.
So was the writing an attempt to discredit the former Republican Vice Presidential candidate by drawing links to Timothy McVeigh, or was it a simple artistic decision?
"Calling a character 'Kurt McVeigh' conjures up unmistakable images of mass murdering terrorist Timothy McVeigh. Hollywood screenwriters don't live in a cultural vacuum; they help to create American culture,” Matthew Vadum, senior editor at the Capital Research Center in Washington D.C told FOX411’s Pop Tarts. “They had to have known that making the character a conservative with a fondness for Sarah Palin was a clever way to take a jab at the former Alaska governor."

I'm no fan of Palin but naming a character linked to her after the worst domestic terrorist in US history is just bad taste.

McVeigh is a proud and honorable name.
a great many people who have never harmed anyone bear the name McVeigh.

That. I think it's unfair to the other McVeighs of the world to only associate the name with the terrorist.

I don't think Fox is making the story up Jim. August, this has nothing to do with that Jim thinks that the whole story is fictional, but where, the news was coming from, there are so many sources to get content from, and it would have been the BBC,it would have been a different sound in the barrel :DL

Thanks to Fox's reputation however, any article posted by them is considered as factual as an article from the Onion, if not less so.

I feel the same way about unsupported claims on the internet. Can you point to any kind of study that backs up your assertion that Fox news articles are not factual?
