Okay so I got the dates capital ships are moored at docks and am running GWX 3. So I sneak into Loch Ewe on the 16th of November 1939 looking for a Revenge Class BB and a Nelson Class BB since theyre both supposed to be there from the 5th of November to December at the earliest. And theres nothing. No BBs, tons of destroyers and asw trawlers and torpedo boats, but no capital ships. The only two things worth sinking are a troop carrier and a modern tanker, but thats all thats there. I dont get it, shouldnt both BBs be moored here?

Just went in for a second patrol on December 12th, 1939, according to the charts one of the battleships should be still there until January 5th 1940. Still no battleship. Hmmmm. This has me wondering. Is it possible that in Loch Ewe they dock outside the harbour somewhere instead??

Anything sweet in Loch Ewe is inside the subnets, so if you didn't see them, they are not there.

I know zero about examining the scripting layers, because I don't want to "know" too much, but are you looking at the right one? I know I am using the wrong terms, but one determines what will be there, and the other what could be there if other conditions are met.

Warships don't really start to use Loch Ewe until midway through the war, most of the time its a wasted trip. In 43' 43' have on occasion found a flat top moured by the western shore and the occasional BB. For the troulbe and time involved in succesfully sneaking into the harbor area itself its 9 times out of 10 not worth it. The areas where the capital ships moor also have subnets, unless you fire a shot at minimum depth and get lucky (that it passes over the nets) it can be seriously difficult to get into a firing position that will all you to hit vulnerable spots on high value targets in there.

Im looking at a list that Jimbuna gave me and it had worked before for Scapa Flow (In september two battle ships where there) but I just cant find anything in Loch Ewe, its likes its cursed. I do find a Large Merchant and a Modern tanker every time but thats it. theres a floating dock not worth shooting, a troop ship that is USA, a medium cargo which I might take out depending on the situation and a few ASW trawlers docked.

For some reason really, sneaking into Loch Ewe isnt difficult at all for me, even with upwards of 6 escorts and 6 pt boats buzzing around the mouth. I just do it on surface and at night in either good conditions or moderate conditions (Vis) and get in past the sub nets every time.

Ime it isn't till (at the earliest) that the US enters the war that Ewe starts to get any worthwhile targets' compared to Scapa, Gibraltor or Alexandria it always seems to come up short on Warships. If you're around Ewe and just continue SW and then S into the Irish Sea you're more likely to run into a juicy task force than spend the time to go into Loch Ewe. Seem like a TF is always spawning in Liverpool heading up to Scapa every few days.

My apologies....the Scr_layer for Loch Ewe is different in GWX3.0:

Nelson 16-2-44 till wars end
Prince Of Wales 1-7-41 till 10-12-41
Bogue 15-9-42 till 12-2-43
Essex 13-2-43 till 23-8-43
