Ohaithar.

I have:
Intel i3 Core (2cores 4threads) 2.4GHz CPU
nVidia GeForce 310m 512mb with 16 CUDA cores
3GB of DDR3 RAM

At all lowest possible settings, the game lags horribly in the sub and even outside of it. In it I can hardly get 9 to 10 fps and outside 12. On the navigation plot 17 although it has 150fps on the main menu.

Halp? :(

What mods do you use - and what settings you have made in video gamme settings - and what os you use?

No mods. The game is patched to v1.2.0. OS is windows 7 32bit.

Resolution 1024x768. Particles Density and everything else on lowest possible. Vertical Sync off as well as everything else on the right side of the graphics options section. Gamma is a bit over half, but that's the brightness of the screen, doubt that that's affecting the performance lawl.

Strange - so you do not have any mods - resolution is low? antialiasing zero, particle density very low, shadows zero, vert sinc of and you can not play?

strange - i think maybe sober can help you

but anyway read some things related to the os 32 bit and try the antilag

Here is something to try for those of you having CTDs or using 32 bit OS:

Try this only if you have at least 2 GByte of RAM and at your own risk and using Vista/Win7 32 bit version.
First download the explorer from http://www.ntcore.com/exsuite.php
Next make a backup copy of SH5.exe. Then start "CFF Explorer" and open the orginal SH5.exe file.
Now go to NT Header/File Header and click File Header. There you will find a button labeld "click here". Click it and select the mark at "App can handle> 2gb adressest "
Save the modified EXE, overwrite the orginal one (You do have your backup of it in a safe location right?).
If you run Windows Vista 64 or Windows XP 64 or Win7 64 you're ready and didnt need to read on. The rest is only for Windows Vista 32/Win7 32 or maybe Windows XP.
Now make Windows Vista/Win7 (32-Bit) ready to support more than 2 GByte.
Open a command prompt with Administration rights. You find it under "Programs->Accessories->Command prompt" click right and select "run as administrator".
Enter "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072" (without quotes) in the command window and press enter.
After that restart windows

To reset back to 2GB limit:
to reset the Increased User Adressspace just start the commandline prompt with Admin right again and enter "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 2048"

See if the above helps at all :yep:

Another idea is to install previous version of DirectX ( < v11). I have Win7 64bit but ALWAYS install previous DirectX versions for compatibility reasons. Go to Microsoft's website and search for DirectX. Run the DirectX web installer from their website. You can have DirectX9 AND DirectX11 installed on Win7.

EDIT:

just checked the sh5.exe file and it's large address aware so enabling the 3GB switch in 32bit OSs should help:

And i forgot to ask you if you modified something in your Nvidia control panel and what drv you use for your card?

Try to install antilag also:

GeForce 310m is not a gamming card. Its oke for a laptop and play games on low details, but not for a resource sucker as SH5 is. Consider upgrading the card if you wanna play SH5 and have a better visual performance.

310m is a non-upgradeable card IIRC. He would need to purchase a whole new laptop. The m designates mobile, aka laptop card.

I have a 360m in my Toshiba Qosmio laptop and it runs SH5 just fine.

In the nvidia CP everything is configured for best performance and that I have set the rendered frames limit to 1. That antilag doesn't help. The thingy u posted doesn't help either.

And of course 360m is running smoothly as it has 96 CUDA cores lawl.

Just to check, are shadows off as well ?

sometimes when i get horrible FPS, it fixes itself by alt-tabbing out of the game and back in. Make sure youre surfaced if you try that otherwise o2 will bug.

Shadows off. Alt-tabbing doesn't help.

I guess I'll just overclock my GPU and see if any difference occurs.

That GPU won't do it, ever. To have some fun with SH5 try something with the GPU processing power of a 9800GT at minimum. Otherwise you are just spinning your wheels.

Well, overclocked it stably and managed to get 20fps in the sub, 30 on naviplot and 22 outside. Playable. Thanks for your suggestions tho.

Be careful of over-heating a laptop after overclocking a CPU.
If I were you, I would just play SH3 and/or SHIV

or just constantly monitor temps and good luck!

really, monitor them constantly.

It's around 80°c and it's the GPU not CPU. I'll buy a cooling tab shortly.

i can keep my gpu at 70 degree using msi afterburner - did you try it?
