Theres a book called The Greatest Raid Of All.
One of the best books I've ever read, and it details everything that happened in Operation Chariot.

Interesting story, that, I was just looking at the Wiki page on this earlier this week.
IIRC, the HMS Campbelltown was one of the 50 4-stackers the US provided to Britain before we entered the war. Was it named after your town? I assumed it was, because according to the Wiki the ship's bell was rescued during the raid and eventually given to the town, then loaned back to the RN for use on the new HMS Campbelltown that was launched 40+ years later.

I think LEND covers that too! Guess they're still pissed about the tea.
@OP, Laughing swordfish did a very interesting point of view bit about this in his story up in the SH3 Forum. Good read to BTW. I've been meaning to learn more about this raid, I'll have to check out these links.

Jeremy Clarkson (off Top Gear) did a program about this a while ago on BBC2 called "The greatest raid of all". Heres the program in 6 parts:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axHjSxFyfuo

Different Campbelltown! My Campbelltown is in Australia and is famous for having a ghost that helped solve it's own murder!
