I recommended the Stalker complete 2009 mod to a friend, but he can't patch Stalker to the required version, the patch just won't run. Windows asks if he really wants to open the patch, and then nothing... Did anyone who's running Stalker under Vista/7 similar problems?

Try running the patch as admin.

I probably should've said, he tried running as admin, and in all compatibility modes... so any other suggestions?
To what folder is the game installed? Don't know about the game, but I bet it is the 'Program Files'-protection at work.

not installed in program-files, downloaded several times... guys I wouldn't post here if I didn't check for the usual suspects before.

Try downloading it from another source. At any rate I did a google search for this issue and came up empty. This suggests that there is either a problem with the patch you downloaded, or your os. Also make sure you downloaded the right one for your game as there are many different versions

That is about the only explanation that came to my mind too, I'll have him try that out. I really don't know if he downloaded several times from the same source or tried different sources.

Corrupt or incomplete patch, 100% certain.
Patches which are complete and non-corrupt but not for the right version of a game tend to give a warning message.

Key word being tend, some just close if they can't find the version of the game they are looking for. But that is unusual.
