View Full Version : Help! with installing GWX 3.0

I recently got SH3 (a few years late I know) and after all the rave reviews I downloaded Grey Wolves.

When I try to install, I get an error message saying "modded files detected" and I can't install.

I am installing 1.4b off of Steam. I don't have any mods installed. I deleted everything related to SH3 and tried another install, but I get the same message when I try to install GWX3.0.

Any ideas how I can get it to work? I don't have any modded files, unless Steam provides modded files!

Ensure you have deleted the SH3 folder in C\MyDocs and perform a registry clean.

There are also comprehensive installation instructions available at the GWX website (click on my sig).

Well, I've done a clean reinstall, and deleted those folders, but still get the "modded files" error.

ARRRRRGH!!! There are no modded files!

How do I do a registry clean? (Win7/64)

Steam places the SH3 files in a different directory, usually under Steam/steamapps/common or the like.

Make sure you are pointing the GWX installer at the right file.

That seemed to do the trick!

So obvious now...duh!

Why not use one of the 4 patches provided by SubSim Downloads ?

One of the 4 patches will work with your SH3 Ver. Unless it's already PrePatched.
