We're a group of sub simmers who use GWX 3 and Sh3 Commander along with a computerized enigma machine to send messages back and forth from subs to a "BdU" (German Navy Command) that is 'simulated' by players like yourself (I happen to be the Chief of Operations persay) The BdU directs subs to patrols and such and keeps track of the tonnages sunk so awards can be handed out and more. Essentially, we orchestrate a living breathing Command structure in a sense. If you want to check it out drop by and post something we're always recruiting!
Happy Hunting :salute:
How active is the group now? Last time I peeked in there didn't seem to be much activity, do you guys utilize another board outside of subsim that you post most of messages to?

AFAIK were active(actually playing Sh3) just no one is filing reports much anymore save a few of us,when we started this last campaign we had quite a few join. Then we had quite a few playing and such for quite a while and then it just dropped off. No one reported in much, except, like i said, a few.
On top of that, Ken is on sick leave and we just kind of re structured the command system, so I think we might just start fresh and kick off a new campaign. We could use some more recruits if you'd like to join on in Tessa

It sounds like it would be fun, I tried looking in the enigma space and couldn't really find a basic faq or descriptive thread. Can you point me to the best place/thread? Currently I've got a fairly generous amount of free time; in my current career I'm in a lull waiting to be able to transfer to the 23rd flotilla which opens up in 3 or so months. Was thinking of maybe taking another extended patrol (for a VII) to Capetown now that there's the supply boat down there to help soak up the time.
Far as Enigma is concerned, can I assume that if/when you die you're able to start a new career from square 1 where you left off?

Im not sure if its exactly where you left off but you can start new careers. And post to the Devils of the Deep General Chat thread, we have to get things rolling first though, particularily new members and such. But hopefully that will be soon!

OK, with the way you loosely described things and co-ordinating attacks/events it would be a real buzz kill if you died early in the war you would have to wait for the next restart for everyone. Also say if I had an entire week free (no work, no plans, just pure free time) would I be able to continue playing after I complete my patrol or do you have people pause so that everyone is roughly playing in the same (relative) time period (like +/- 3-4 weeks)?

No you can ask for extra patrols. We have one member who is on his sixth patrol whereas Im only on my second because of time constraints lately. What all else would you like to know in detail?? I can describe more if you want all you gotta do is ask :woot:
And you can start a new career where you left off (Time wise) it would be a new commander and boat though.

That's perfect, lately my gaming is somewhat sporadic, won't do anything for a few days then do 4 or 5 patrols in 2 days. Are there any player setting requirements, or likely what are they? Obviously we'd want them as high as possible, though I do enjoy watching my work with the external camera so don't mind taking the % hit for using it. Aside from the obvious (trainers/cheat mods) are there any mods that you don't/prefer not to allow?

That'd only be in the case of death, 1 of the old groups I used to play with tried to synchronize everyone gametime wise, and would halt play when certain things happened and wait for everyone to catch up, or in the event you were dead you just sat idle until the event they planned was over. Didn't end up with them long because of that, got sick of sitting idle while other people caught up which could take weeks.

Well we use GWX 3 and SH3 Commander, thats it gameplay wise, everything else is allowed (If its eyecandy or such) (Torpedo damage, I use underwater green right now, still deciding on wether I like it or not.

And Id get pretty upset too in that position, I dont like having to wait on other people haha. But for realism purposes you could have chalked it up to diplomatic crap for taking BdU so long to get your orders to you :P

AFAIK we're trying to reorganise and restructure the flotilla in order to get a working knowledge of who's active and who isn't, and we're hoping to start to get people on synchronised missions and in Enigma flotillas. Finally, we're going to establish two sides of the flotilla, one which uses enigma coding and one that uses uncoded messages in the enigma message format:yeah:

No, he doesn't know you at all. On the other hand all he has to go on is the way you post here, and the post he commented on was extremely childish, so there you are.

Just because you are young does not mean you are not mature.
Everyone jokes around every know and then i do not see what is so childish?

The first there would be enough to make any mother or father angry, of course theyre not going to let you get something when you get fired from a job.
Secondly, your parents provide for you more than you know, calling her a bizznitchell isnt in the least way mature.
I know because I currently live with my parents while I wait to ship out for the Navy. And Im thankful they provide a roof over my head, and a car to drive, and gas for that car until I leave.

Qoute entire post. These all highlighted reasons show immaturity. Not trying to be condescending, just pointing out thats all mate.

Or anyone in my family.
so how would you kknow anything about this?

That's true. We have had many teens here who posted like adults, and I never knew until they mentioned their age. You haven't acted like one of them.
Everyone jokes around every know and then i do not see what is so childish?
Joking around isn't childish. Railing against your parents and blaming everyone for your mistakes is.

I had issues with my father. I whined about it to my friends. I didn't whine about it to complete strangers, many of them parents themselves. I don't have to know anything about you to recognize childish whining when I see it.
