A Few Questions.

Hello,
I have been looking into getting this game for a long time now.
But i havent been able to get it until recent.
I play mostly Arcade Games (Battlestations midway and such and such)
Because Most simulators are to powerfull for my computor :(
I am farmiliar with some simulators like ArmA 2, (I guess you can call that a SIM) and Il-2 Sturmovik.
But I have a few questions about the game itself and some mods

1. Does The Steam Version of the game have starforce as of 2/20/11?
I hear starforce is very bad for your computor.

2. What (Out of 10) is your opinion of the game (I have merely watched videos , and as a big navy buff who knows everything about commanding a ship, i would give it a 7,800,456)

3. The GWX mod, I read about it a billion times.
Does that contain the extended interior of The U-Boat?
(was watching A lets play by Frontier and he had a diesal room & A captians Quarters & barracks, the only thing he said they didnt have was torpedo rooms but idk if its GWX or not)]

4. what other mods would you reccomend and what do they do?

I'm pretty sure not. Also, any version you buy today on disc doesn't have it either.

I hear starforce is very bad for your computor.
I never had any problems, but a great many folks did. Supposedly it sometimes thinks a game is pirated and "fixes" it by murdering your DVD/CD reader. Not to worry, though - as I said above, with the newest versions you're completely safe.

Out of 10? I'd give it a 9, but only because there are a few minor problems that have never been fixed, and likely never will be. That said, with the available mods the game is brilliant.

Does that contain the extended interior of The U-Boat?
No. That comes only with FlakMonkey's New Interiors mod (which is compatible with GWX), and soon with Hans Wittemann's new Type II supermod.

That's FM's New Interiors. It's wonderful, but it takes a lot of power and memory to run it.

Very, very many, and they do very many things. Too many to list all in one sitting.

I am not sure of the video card but i know its a Gforce. Regarding your video card, which you are unsure of, I hope there is at least 256 mb for it to be cut thoroughly, but then you can not have such high demands on the mods that have major effects which the card may be more difficult to handle.

Steam version works fine, aside from some minor glitches with SH Commander (will write up a post about it soon, I think I have it figured). The biggest drawback if your a serious modder is the limit of one install. If you are interested in running multiple versions of mod setups (ie One stable, and one expiremental) I'd recommend buying the disc version, from the subsim amazon link above (on the main page). But the steam version is fully compatible with all the mods that I have found.

The only mods i am planning on getting is the interior mod and GWX for now.
You were all a big help guys thank you so much.
Also, the only reason i am getting it from steam is because my mother trusts it lol and because no shipping period (i have been waiting for this game since early january)

;) Begin with GWX3 the link that I gave you above,and SH3 Commander is almost a "must" and cfg files for SH3 Commander which you can take down above you, under downloads on the left side.

Im a sort of avtive modder.
i modded my Rome total war & empire total war.
Can you gime a step-by-step on how to do it for this game?

1.A clean installation of Silent Hunter 3 + patch if the game is the model "older" in many cases need not be made.
2.2.Install GWX3 from the link you got it contains GWX mods and Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME) it may need updating.
3.3.Installera SH3 Commander 3.2 and GWX3 Cfg files for SH3 Commander / are under the tab on the left above you in Downloads.
4.Start up and see what you want for OTHER mods, there are plenty to choose from.

5.What you may choose, you will soon see the possibilities

Each mod usually has a readme in it for installation instructions.

As for GWX and SHC, you should read the threads and the FAQ's about them for all the answers your looking for (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=195). GWX comes with JSGME which will allow you to install the other mods.

GWX is something like 4 gb, so you better start soon, so you can have it ready to go when you get SH3 installed.

I would recommend doing the tutorial missions on stock first, and then installing GWX, as a couple of them become VERY difficult with GWX (12 Airplanes!? WTF GWX, yer trying to kill us!).

So commander is a program with a whole bunch of mods to choose from? SH3 commande allows you to make changes to the game, as an example to start from the sea instead of the port, faster charges on your deck gun, etc.

SH3 Commander is a tool which works outside the game. As mentioned, it lets you change many of the in-game parameters with a single click. It also creates and lets you control a realistic career, lets you control your crew statistics, and gives names, crew and cargo stats for every ship you sink.

Since it works from the outside you can install it any time. I would suggest doing the tutorials and a couple of patrols before you install either Commander or GWX, to get a feel for the game at its easiest.
