View Full Version : [CC:LSA] Operation Market Garden [Allied AAR]
Yeah... here we go again. :O:
Well, frankly the German campaigns were utterly boring and way too easy,
so I decided to start the Grand Campaign as the allies. Settings are the
same as in Nijmegen campaign with the exception of elite difficulty and
Vetmod being installed. Hopefully this makes things a little more interesting.
Few personal rules and other stuff:
I finally did some reading on how the Victory Locations work, so that opens
up a few options on the strategic level. (Pushing through sectors without
finishing the fight etc.)
Also, I imposed some rules to unit deployment a) if airborne unit lands into
combat, I'm not allowed to move the units during the deployment. Instead,
I have to link up and then start the attack. b) If VLs "won" by a morale victory
are cut-off from the rest of my control area, I'm not allowed to deploy units
there.
AARs will be quite minimalistic, there's too many battles per turn to write a
detailed AAR and take/convert/upload screenshots off. Few lines per battle
with the debrief screen. Campaign situation screen I'll upload after the last
battle of the turn.
For those who want to get a better picture of the battles, here's the complete strategic map that comes with the game:

1500hrs September 17 - EINDHOVEN SECTOR
Valkenswaard (XXX Corps)
Didn't get what I came here for. Advance came to an halt at the crossroads,
germans were holed there pretty tight. Armor drove them away, but also broke
their morale, ending the battle with 3 additional VLs, which due to the rules I
won't use. Would've hoped to get atleast to the Lumber mill in this turn.

Best Bridge (1/502)
The bridge here is marked as a secondary objective, so I decided to take my
time and get my units into good positions to attack on the next turn. I took
the eastern approach, snuck my units across the field to the ditch that runs
from east to west right by the bridge. I was still 300+ meters from the bridge
when the germans blew it up. Guess the RAF Typhoon that strafed the 88
emplacement by the bridge scared them...

http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x462/Dowly/Best_deb_1.jpg
Son Bridge (506/101)
I secured the Northwest corner of the map quickly and set up MG infantry
to overlook the bridge. Under cover of a smoke screen, I ordered most of
the infantry to cross the bridge only to have it blown up in-front of my eyes.
It takes 2-3 turns to repair a minor bridge, not a good start.

St.Odenrode Bridge (502/101)
502's primary goal was to capture the Dommel bridge here. My deployment
zone was to the South, so it was a long walk through the city. Everything
went well until I got close to the bridge and a 20mm flak gun started
shooting at me. No choice but to take it out, which scared the germans and
the bridge was lost. Trigger happy people them germans...

Veghel Bridge (1/501 & 501/101)
Had South and North deployment here, which would have been a good
thing except the game made me use 1/501 instead of the 501/101 which
was in the same sector with a much better supply. Anywho, had a little
skirmish in North with a small squad of germans, who were nice enough
to surrender after a short firefight. From there, I ordered both N and S
teams to sneak towards the bridge. The south team got into position first
and under smoke screen attacked the bridge, but to no avail, the bridge was,
yet again, blown. Great success!

1500hrs September 17 - NIJMEGEN SECTOR
Grave Bridge (2/504 & 504/82)
Two deployment zones again, but for some reason I can't deploy units to the southern one.
Ah well, atleast I get to use the full supply of the 504 this time around. I split the troops, 4
teams attack across the bridge, the rest secure the north side of the river. The bridge team
takes horrible losses, but finish what they started and captures the bridge intact. North team
gets pinned down by 2 german squads holding the high ground near the west VL, so not much
progress there. But, I got the bridge, so I'm happy.
http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x462/Dowly/Grave_map_1.jpg
http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x462/Dowly/Grave_deb_1.jpg
Grafwegen (505/82)
Ah, so nice to have something else to do than worry about not making it to the bridge in time.
Right, the purpose of this sector is to cover the Nijmegen corridor's eastern flank from the
counter-attacking germans pushing in from Germany. I have 2 goals for this turn: exit VLs to
Mook (south) and Groesbeek (north). I split my troops into 2 teams and make my way for the
objectives. Both teams get in contact with the germans, the Mook team splits up and captures
their objective, but the Groesbeek team gets pinned down and so can't get to their VL.
Fortunately, the german garrison's morale breaks and I am awarded with 3 additional VLs,
one of them being the road to Groesbeek.
http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x462/Dowly/Graf_map_1.jpg
http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x462/Dowly/Graf_deb_1.jpg
Groesbeek (508/82)
Goal here was to secure the urban area immediately to the west of the drop zone and
capture the road leading south to Grafwegen. I gathered a small team to circle around
to the south side of the town, while the rest of the troops pushed into the town. I had some
casualties due to 3-4 squad strong german position in the western part of the sector that
pinned down my troops entering the town. I took control of most of the town, but unfortunately
there wasn't enough time to capture the southern road.

Good read as usual Dowly, can't wait to read the rest
1500hrs September 17 - ARNHEM SECTOR
Arnhem Rail Bridge (2/1PARA)
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! I messed up big time here. My original intend for the 2nd battalion
was to rush it through the sectors (this and West Arnhem) and get into Arnhem before the
german reinforcements appear. But, I got greedy and instead of holding out after taking
the road to West Arnhem, I tried to cross the bridge leading to a KIA command squad and
the loss of the bridge. STUUUPID!!

http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x462/Dowly/ARB_deb_1.jpg
Wolfheze (1PARA)
No other goal here than finish this ASAP so I can continue towards Arnhem. Main focus was
on capturing the L shaped building in the center of the map and use it as staging area in the
next turn. Also sent some of my troops to secure the southern flank, which turned up to be a
life saver. Heavy fighting in both areas, especially in the southern flank where it got down to
waving bayonets around.

1800hrs September 17
Eindhoven
I lost all the bridges here, so I'm now concentrating in securing the
flanks.
Troop Movement:
506/101 Son Bridge -> Eindhoven
1/505 Best Bridge -> De Geelders
502/101 St.Odenrode -> Schinjndel
1/501 Veghel -> Uden
501/101 Veghel -> Gemert
Nijmegen
Going to finish the fight at Grave bridge, other troops in sector keep
the Mook-Grafwegen-Groesbeek-Wyler line to block any german
reinforcements coming from east.
Troop Movement:
N/A
Arnhem
1PARA breaks off and heads southeast to Heveadorp, 2/1PARA holds
at the Arnhem Rail Bridge until 1PARA links up with them for a push
to take the Arnhem Road Bridge later on. Drop zones at Ginkel Heath
and Renkum Heath held by 1st Airlanding Brigade until the second
lift. Supply will become a problem very soon in this sector.
Troop Movement:
1PARA Wolfheze -> Heveadorp
1800hrs September 17 - EINDHOVEN SECTOR
Valkenswaard (XXX Corps)
No resistance from the germans here, pushed north from the crossroads
all the way to the north edge of the map. I think they went mad after the
last battle as I saw 2-3 germans running around on an open field just
outside the town. Lead treatment worked well in this case. Only loss was
a tracked Sherman, I'm quite sure the driver was drunk as it had troubles
finding it's way around from the beginning.

http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x462/Dowly/Valken_deb_2.jpg
Eindhoven (506/101)
Not much to say, I formed a line and pushed south on the whole length of
the map. It seems germans had thought the same as I: the road to Nederwetten.
They had everyone there apart from one squad that was defending the road to
Valkenswaard. Saw an 88 down there too, which fortunately didn't see me and so
it was easy task to destroy it with my mortar. The advance on my right flank was
stopped by an MG42 or an MG34, only one casualty and the MG was soon flanked
by the center and left flank squads.

Good show!
Is this game real time? Or is it "turns"?
Real time. Though sometimes it could do with a TC option. Considering they're in a war zone, they don't half bimble along.
Good game with lot's of tactical choices.
Good show!
Is this game real time? Or is it "turns"?
Both.
You have the strategic map, where you move your battlegroups around,
allocate support elements (mortar, artillery, air) and worry about keeping
your supply routes open. BG's can do one action per turn (think there's five
or six turns per day in LSA), move, fight, rest etc.
Once your BG meets an enemy BG on the strategic map, they engage in
real time combat on that particular sector. There's a few ways to win a
battle, but I won't go into that. Whoever wins or forces the enemy BG to
retreat gets the sector.
If you're planning on buying one of the CC games, make sure you know which
one you're getting. I'd suggest to get one of the remakes as they add
some nice stuff (more turns, better compatibility, night battles, more
sectors etc.)
Here's a list of the remakes:
Close Combat: Last Stand Arnhem (operation market garden)
Close Combat: Cross of Iron (Eastern Front, no strategic map AFAIK)
Close Combat: The Longest Day (operation overlord, includes the "classic" CC5)
Close Combat: Wacht am Rhein (ardennes, includes the "classic" CC4)
----------------------------------------------------
1800hrs September 17 - NIJMEGEN SECTOR
Grave Bridge (2/504 & 504/101)
I got the bridge barely under control, so I muster most of my troops for an
all out assault to the VLs south of the bridge. At first it seems that no one's
home, but sure enough the blasted 20mm flak opens up few dozen meters
from me. The 20mm fires fast enough to kill a lot of my guys, if I don't keep
the pace up, so quick smoke screen and charge it with all I got. I end up
losing two guys, but the 20mm is taken out and the south side is secured.
No germans on the north side of the river, so the squads there can secure the
rest of it in peace.

http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x462/Dowly/Grave_deb_2.jpg
Grafwegen (505/82)
The remaining defenders were all bunched up near the center VL, the fight
started the moment I pressed the 'begin' button. I had more firepower and
one by one the germans fell or surrendered.

http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x462/Dowly/Graf_deb_2.jpg
Groesbeek (508/82)
Achieved my goal here early on (south road VL). Only saw 2 german squads, so
I guess that's all they had left. The command squad was tough one, took me
4 squads to get the upperhand. Their morale broke the moment I eliminated the
command team. Nijmegen's eastern flank is secure.

Thanks guys, got it working, first battle against the Wehrmacht, was pushing for a victory when they deployed the Overheat bomb.
Sore losers... :nope:
0000hrs September 18
Eindhoven
The route is open for supplies and the XXX Corps. First German
reinforcements arrived to Best, so I move 506/101 to the Son
Bridge to cover that in case the germans try to take control of it.
Nederwetten & Helmond on my right flank are still in enemy hands,
but I have no units to spare to secure them.
Troop Movement:
XXX Corps Valkenswaard -> Eindhoven
506/101 Eindhoven -> Son Bridge
Nijmegen
With Grave Bridge safe, 504/82 starts to head towards the Maas-
Waal Canal bridges to the northeast. Plan is to punch through
at Blankenberg (should get deployment right next to the bridge
there). Units on my right flank, I keep as they are atm. I could
move them west 1 sector each, but I'll have to see how this turn
goes before I make my decision.
Troop Movement:
504/82 Grave -> Overasselt
Arnhem
First German reinforcements arrived here too, Drop Zone Y
(Ginkel Heath) is being fought over by the South Staffordshire
Regiment of the 1st Airlanding Bridage and the SS-Wachbattalion 3.
2/1PARA waits for 1PARA at Arnhem Rail Bridge.
Troop Movement:
1PARA Heveadorp -> South Oosterbeek
0000hrs September 18 - EINDHOVEN SECTOR
Son Bridge (506/101)
The germans did try and take the sector as I anticipated.
Bit of an silly battle this in that it was a meeting engagement
and thus most VLs were neutral, including the bridge. Now, how
exactly does the game think anyone can capture the bridge VL
with the bridge... like you know, being blown up and stuff is
beyond me. Anywho, the baddies had deployed on both sides of the
river. Most of them seemed to be on my side, so after the initial fight,
I launched an counter-attack and captured the west road back which
in turn broke their morale and I (thank god) got the bridge VL as prize.

0000hrs September 18 - ARNHEM SECTOR
Ginkel Heath (South staffs/1airldg)
Not much different from any other defense battle. They had the advantage
over numbers, but that mean't little as they had little cover where they
deployed. They did fight until the very end before their morale broke and
they were forced to retreat off the map.

0600hrs September 18
Uh... now it got interested, massive german reinforcements pouring
in on all sectors.
Eindhoven
1/502, 502/101 and 501/101 give up securing the flanks and retreat back
to secure the bridges (*and start the repairs). Elements of XXX Corps
moves north to help 506/101 at Son Bridge.
Troop Movements:
Irish Guards Eindhoven -> Son Bridge
Welsh Guards Valkenswaard -> Eindhoven
1/502 De Geelders -> Son Heath
502/101 Schinjndel -> St.Odenrode
501/101 Gemert - > Veghel
Nijmegen
The right flank is under attack on it's whole length (Mook-Grafwegen-
Groesbeek-Wyler). 504/82 attacks Blankenberg Bridge from the west.
Troop Movements:
504/82 Overasselt -> Blankenberg Bridge
Arnhem
Drop Zone X at Renkum Heath comes under attack from KG Lippert,
1st Airlanding Brigade digs in. German reinforcements coming from
both east and west. 2/1PARA and 1PARA link up at West Arnhem.
Troop Movements:
2/1PARA Arnhem Rail Bridge -> West Arnhem
1PARA South Oosterbeek -> West Arnhem
*Apparently, there has to be a friendly battlegroup in the sector
for the bridge repairs to begin. Manual fails to mention that.

0600hrs September 18 - EINDHOVEN SECTOR
Son Bridge (Irish Guards & 506/101)
There's one thing I don't like about the Close Combat games.
That is, when the enemy has two squads remaining on a sector,
they fight it out instead of retreating. And that was the case here,
two german squads against what I had. Armor firing from the south
side of the river and a swift attack with all my infantry took care of
them with no own losses.

http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x462/Dowly/Son_deb_4.jpg
Veghel (501/101)
This was the first tougher battle of the campaign, against
FJ Jungwirth attacking from northwest. It was a meeting
engagement as I too only just arrived to the sector, so most VLs
were neutral at the start. I formed two teams, team A rushed
to the crossroads, took control of the farmhouse and the bridge.
(bridge VL was close enough to the shore to be capturable)
Team B secured the road to Uden on my right flank and continued
to circle around via the northern flank and dug in at the ditch.
The germans took a more cautious attitude and only did small
attacks against the farmhouse. Towards the end, I tried throwing
them off the map twice, but they were dug in too tight. Taking the
bridge VL was pretty much all I achieved here.

Was just getting off Gold beach, both Duplex drive Shermans were swiftly knocked out by an unknown gun, and the infantry were advancing to the sea wall when -FZIT-.
Overheat... :damn::damn::damn:
I think I'll stick to playing CC on the machine that doesn't overheat...

Listen my minions (Krauter, I'm looking at you :O:). It's been a long time since the last battle, but I am getting back to this.
The next battles are on the Nijmegen sector, which, like Eindhoven & Arnhem, is getting pounded by the german reinforcements.
Mook-Grafwegen-Groesbeek-Wyler line, the whole of my eastern flank is
under attack from KGs Goebel, Greschick, Stargaard and Fustenberg.
Also, 504/82 is attacking the Blankenberg Bridge against a german garrison.
Hoping to secure the bridge for XXX Corps.

0600hrs September 18 - NIJMEGEN SECTOR
Mook (1/505)
The germans got massacred here. Absolutely no cover on the east side of
the map they were attacking from. My .30 cal did most of the killing, picking off
anyone who tried to make a run for it. Total victory and KG Goebel driven off
the map.

Grafwegen (505/82)
Well, another standard defense battle. They had slightly more cover this time,
but not enough to launch a serious attack. They stopped trying after the initial
wave, which was gunned down quickly. I put some pressure on them by launching
counter-attacks from both west and north, but those were just to contain the enemy
and kill few of them to get a total victory via morale break. KG Greschick routed.

Blankenberg Bridge (504/82)
Right, Blankenberg. Probably the easiest one to attack of the four bridges over
Maas-Waal Canal. Only one way to go here: over the bridge. I gathered all my
teams to the forest on the western border of the sector, only leaving one 3-man
team to secure the forest in-case the germans try to push me out from north.
Remember from my german AARs, how I defended this sector with pretty much
one MG42 doing all the work? Yeah, well, now I was in the receiving end of it.
As soon as I got to the crossroads, the MG42 opened up from the east bank, killing
one of my guys right there and halting the attack for a few seconds before I could
get a smoke screen up to give atleast some cover. When I got to the bridge, the
railings provided some limited cover from the enemy fire and with some more smoke,
I managed to get to the victory location and capture it. From there, I tried to push
over the bridge, but that effort fell short due to the MG42 and I took positions on the
bridge and hoped I could survive to the end of the battle. Luckily, somehow, I was
able to keep up the rate of fire and thus prevent from being pinned down. Took some
heavy losses, but that was to be expected. Wonder if I can hold the bridge on the next
turn, tho.

KG Stangaard attacked with only 3-4 teams but they did put up a good fight. They
suffered pretty steep losses during the first stages of the battle, when they tried to
move towards the center of the map, but still I had to launch an counter-attack to
flush out the remaining germans and get a total victory. KG Stangaard routed.

and KG Fustenberg routed.

Renkum Heath (1AIRLDG/1AB)
KG Lippert (SS) counter-attacked at Renkum Heath, trying to
secure Drop Zone X and Landing Zone Z and force the
11/4PARA arriving later today to jump into combat. Our
forces were fairly balanced, saw a lot of germans in the woods
where they deployed to. Thanks to the gliders littering the
fields, I was able to cover all directions and have good line of fire
to the open fields and to the road leading through the forest.
The main attack was directed towards the Drop Zone X, where
I had my 2nd Vickers machinegun waiting (the other one was
covering the forest road). The cross-fire proved to be very
effective and the attack stopped early on. I moved in to the
woods from north with a small group to pick off any stragglers.
Total victory, KG Lippert routed.

END OF TURN 4

0900hrs September 19
Eindhoven
More reinforcements coming from south and immediately move
north to take over the defense of Eindhoven, while Grenadier &
Welsh guards leave Eindhoven to cover the west and east flanks.
KG 59.ID attacks against 502/101 at St. Odenrode, 501/101 still
fighting FJ Jungwirth at Veghel. Not good considering I need a
full of control of both sectors for the bridges to be repaired.
German 107 Panzer arrived to Helmond, btw.
Troop Movements:
Grenadier Guards Eindhoven -> Nederwetten
Welsh Guards Eindhoven -> Best
130/43 & 214/43 Valkenswaard -> Eindhoven
Nijmegen
504/82 tries to get a hold of the bridge at Blankenberg, shouldn't be a
big task as there is only a garrison there and I killed quite a few of them
on last turn. Gave them air support just in case.
Troop Movements:
-none-
Arnhem
1st Airlanding Brigade continues to defend the drop zones at Ginkel Heath
and at Renkum Heath until the second lift arrives. 2/1PARA and 1PARA finally
reach the grand prize: Arnhem road bridge. I better capture this thing, loads of
jarmins coming this way from the east.
Troop Movements:
1PARA & 2/1PARA West Arnhem -> Arnhem Road Bridge
0900hrs September 18 - EINDHOVEN SECTOR
St. Oedenrode (502/101)
I wanted a total victory here, so to get the bridge
repairs back on track. Attacked the german deployment
area from north and south, with MG team and a sniper
giving fire support from the church tower in the center.
That attempt failed badly, the north team took heavy
losses from the german mortar fire and after a short
fight, only 2 men from the 3 teams could get out and
retreat back to the starting position. The southern team
saw less action, but the mortar fire zeroed in on them
after a while and I decided to pull the south flank nearer
to the bridge to the north. The germans only managed to
capture one VL here before the battle ended due to both
sides being too exhausted.

Veghel (501/101)
Continuing the fight against FJ Jungwirth here. I set my
.30 cal to fire down the road from the farm house next to
the bridge. I also managed to make enough progress during
the last battle, that I had enough deployment area to
have some of my troops positioned to a good firings spot
east of the German deployment area. It was a duck shoot,
the germans didn't have much cover and me being able to
shoot them from south and east made this battle last only
for 5 minutes before their morale broke. Still, not a total
victory as I had hoped.

Blankenberg Bridge (504/82)
Not much happened here. The germans had only one
command team remaining here, in the northeast area
of the sector. Tried to flank them with one of my Platoon HQ
teams, but due to the distance and the cover the enemy
had I couldn't get them. So, I called in an air-strike. :smug:
Blankenberg Bridge secured.

0900hrs September 18 - ARNHEM SECTOR
Arnhem Road Bridge (1PARA, 2/1PARA in reserve)
Well this was a disappointing battle. There was only a
small garrison here, but still, I was expecting a better battle.
The plan I had was to set up three teams: Team 1 would take
the northern route, secure the Gardens VL and then move onto
the bridge and commence the crossing. Team 2 would go from
the middle and secure the buildings overlooking the bridge, then
join the bridge crossing as a second wave. Team 3 would follow
the river road all the way to the northeast and secure whatever
VL's they could. Instead, team 1 made contact with the enemy
immediately at the Gardens VL and broke their morale in few
minutes. Not a total victory, tho.

Renkum Heath (1AIRLDG/1AB)
Fliegerhorst Battalion 1 took it's turn in trying to break the
1st Airlanding Brigade here. I went with almost identical
setup as I used on the last turn, one Vickers shooting down
the forest road, the second Vickers keeping it's sights on the
south edge of the forest. Again, the attack was aimed at
Drop Zone X, one by one the germans fell to the Vickers.
The last attackers held their ground in the woods bordering
the road to Ede, so I launched an attack from north and east,
slowly encircling them before giving the final blow. Total
victory, Fliegerhorst 1 routed.

Even more reinforcements arrive to Valkenswaard. Elements of
'Garden' start to move northwards along the western and eastern
flanks. Irish Guards arrive to St. Oedenrode to drive out 59 ID with
force. The German 107 Panzer takes over the push at Veghel, not
good at all, not sure if I have anything to fight the armor.

NIJMEGEN

ARNHEM

KGs Knaust and, I believe, Harder from 9. SS rush in to help in the
defense of the Arnhem bridge. Definitely not good for me.
1200hrs September 18 - EINDHOVEN SECTOR
St.Odenrode (Irish Guards/ 502/101 in reserve)
Ok, after the last turn's battle where 502 got beaten badly,
it's time to bring in the big guns of Irish Guards. The german
deployment zones were reduced to 2 small blobs, I guess
because I moved in a 2nd battlegroup or something. The
Shermans and infantry I had next to the St.Odenrode VL
gunned down the germans there quickly and I attacked in
south supported by an command Sherman. Everything went
smoothly until I got careless and moved the C.Sherman too
far and it got hit by an Panzerfaust, destroying the tank.
Anyway, total victory, KG59 routed.

Veghel (501/101)
This battle concerned me the most, 107 Panzer had 2
Panthers and half-tracks to use to push me out. I holed up
at the bridge and kept the orders to shoot only when absolutely
necessary. Both Panthers approached from south, fortunately
not together. Looked more like a scouting raid, saw no infantry
coming my way. Pvt. Kilgore shined by taking out the command
Panther, an half-track and immobilizing the second Panther.
The crew of the immobilized Panther surrendered before I could
get my second bazooka team there to finish him. This broke their
morale, total victory, 107 Panzer & FJ Jungwirth routed.

Grave (2/504)
Not much action here. KG Graebner sent only one half-track over
the bridge, which was taken out by the units positioned at the
Flak Tower VL. Germans captured the bridge, but I can hold the
southern end of it until relieved.

1200hrs September 18 - ARNHEM SECTOR
Arnhem Road Bridge (1PARA, 2/1PARA in reserve)
Time to set up the shop and dig in. KG Knaust's attack came mainly
from the northeast, fortunaly I had perimeter set up to 3 out of the 4
corners of the block (southeast corner was secured during the battle)
and so had good covered positions to nail the germans. After few
minutes of fighting, the german morale broke and I got most of the
VLs on the northern sector as a prize.

1AIRLDG/1AB heading to Arnhem as fast as possible. KG Knaust & Harder/9SS, still fighting 1PARA
at the Arnhem Road Bridge. German reinforcements approaching from east and west.
1500hrs September 18 - NIJMEGEN SECTOR
Grave Bridge (2/504)
I pulled my troops off from the Flak Tower VL as the wreck of the half-track
was limiting my line of fire towards the bridge. Two german teams crossed
over and headed for the FT, the first one was gunned down before they could
get to cover, but the second team managed to enter and capture the VL.
Around this point, I realised that the bridge was fully in german hands and that
they could blow it up, if I couldn't capture the South Bridge VL (and so put some
extra time in their demolition clock). That in mind, I opened up with everything I had
at the FT and launched an counter-attack. The german team inside started to panic
and run out one by one, only one of them was alive long enough to surrender.
I was still a good 30-35 meters from the South Bridge VL when the bridge was blown.
Total Victory, but a big mistake from my part.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New rule to maybe make this a tad more interesting: 30 Corps can't use
the flanking routes unless the main route has already been secured & bridge(s)
are intact. So, for example, on Eindhoven, 30 Corps can only advance to
the height of Veghel, as the bridge there is still being repaired. Otherwise,
I could just steamroll the map with all the 30 Corps BGs I have.

Nice I used to play this and CCIII all the time back in 1999~2000.Those where pretty good games for their time and very challenging as well.I used to love making a custom map as the Germans in CCIII and setting up tons of MG and heavy units then I'd make the Red Army just wave after after wave of infantry I dont think I ever lasted more than 4 or % minutes as the Reds but it was fun to see them get cut down.:haha:
I knew some guys around the base that also played CC and we'd make campaigns for each other all the time.
Oh never played this one I played A Bridge Too Far this must be a mod of that I take it.
