Re the Mini Choronmeter MOD. I downloaded, saved, and unzipped the file Mini_Chrono.zip and end up with a Configuration Setting File named: MENU_1024_768. The question is how do I implement this mod into the game? This must be simple but I haven't a clue. Thanks

WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:

You should install all mods with JSGME.
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products-jsgme.html

This will let you install mods easily and quickly, have them installed and working or just on standby, and let you uninstall them if you decide you don't like them.

Thanks for the feedback. Have JSGME installed but did not know it could be applied to virtuall any mod. Will give it a try.

...did not know it could be applied to virtuall any mod.It can't if your mod comes with its own menu.ini file...

If it does and you don't want to break the mod's ini, you'll have to edit the mini chrono values into your mod's menu.ini. Didn't it come with instructions for this editing?

someone locate jamminadrid's (spell?) J-Tex which he created to fix the mini chrono. That should solve the problem. I haven't used it for several years.

The program indeed needs a fix but unable to locate the fix. It is a problem with the screen resolution. Anyone else try and run this mod and run into the same problem i.e. Game freezes.

In version 1.4, It's not too hard to edit the menu_1024_768.ini file. It's in the (install directory)/data/menu folder.

First, rename menu_1024_768.ini to oldmenu_1024_768.ini, or something like that...Open it with notepad, and save it as the original file name. Now you can edit the copy, and can restore the original file if you need to.

Scroll down till you get to the clock section, [G 29 I2] through [G29 I19] for ver 1.4.

Each section, I2 to I19 has a zone= line. The 3rd and 4th numbers of each line control the size. Just change the numbers by the percent you want the clock smaller, ie, 50% for half size.

It should read

[G29 I2]
Name=Chrono
Type=1026;Menu group
ItemID=0x29020000
ParentID=0x29000000
Pos=412,0,312,300
Zone= 412 768 312 300 0 1 0x29000000 1 0 0x29020000 -1 0 -300 0
Color=0xFFFFFFFF

Change the 312 to 156 and the 300 to 150 in the zone= line to reduce the clock size by half. I made mine 60% of original size, and just rounded up or down to the nearest whole number.

Each Section, I2 through I19 is for 1 piece of the clock, so you have to change both numbers in each section, and by the same percentage.

This should work in ver 1.5 too, although the clock section may be numbered differently.

Welcome aboard.:woot:
To edit the 1024 file:
Locate it, and save a copy elsewhere. File is located in this folder:C:/folder in which you installed the game/ SilentHunter4/data/menu
Open the file with notepad
Locate the blocks in the open file (by using the "find" function in notepad)
Make the changes and then save the file.
You should download a program "WinMerge" (http://winmerge.org/) and learn to use it, if you want to use a lot of mods, as many use the 1024 file.
When JSGME overwrites the 1024 file with any mod that contains this file, all prior changes are overwritten and will not work and/or cause CTD.
If you installed the game in the program files, JSGME usually won't work, and you will have a problem with SH3Commnader also.:damn::damn::damn:
This works with SHIII, SHIV and SHV.

I am not a computer whiz, but once again, on October 14, 2007, jamimadrid (spell correctly this time!) created the JTeX program to deal with the file that you are discussing. He created it in response to the mini chronometer issue that was driving modders up the wall. Eventually modders started incorporating the mini chron in the supermods and the issue disappeared for awhile. Here is the link.

If I have rained on someone's parade, my apologies.

Works great in 1.5!

I've been meaning to look into how to resize my clock, and I stumble across this. One hell of a first post, thanks! Welcome to Subsim.
