Hi , im looking to find out if silent hunter 3 will run well on this system ?, i have an amd athlon 64 3000+ 2 ghz processor with 768 mb of ram and an nvidia Geforce fx 5900xt (128 mb ) graphics card , id like to know if the surface of the water will be detailed with reflections of burning ships etc , and whether the under water views will be any good , should i buy an 1gb ddr ram upgrade ?, please help as silent hunter 4 just wont work on my pc as it crashes and only has reflectiveness around the sub when it moves , thanks .

Ram memory and 128 MB of graphics card is low,there, you will need an upgrade,but processor is fine!

SH3 will run on 512MB RAM...the weakness is your graphics card but you can try turning the video settings down and see if that gets you going.
Personally I'd upgrade the card.

I have my Gfx settings maxed in the game... but I don't recall ever seeing reflective water, ie Burning ships. I may just have not noticed it, but I'm not sure if the game does this......

It's often a setup issue that can be solved, with your graphics card, with AA and AF as an example, but then the card work harder as you probably know, which generates heat so make sure you have good at cooling

I'd say 'memory is cheap today' so get that extra ram, and not just for this game. The vid card really needs to be replaced, as most games today will require a maximum effort.
You won't be sorry. Buy the best you can afford, since anything cheaper is probably already obsolete.
