While I am out on patrol and my Chiefs get enough experience to get promoted to senior chief, 2 out of 3 got an special ability. My problem is that after I load my game the next time to play thier ability has changed to a different one or none at all. Then the next time I save and reload it does it again and if I reload that same save right away it does it again.

The one crew that I "bought" with renoun does not have this problem.

I have over a clean install
TMO 2.0
TMO_Easier_AI
IJN_Radar_Fix_for_TMO2_Easier_AI
MaxOptics IV for TMO_2

It's something with the game.
You have to go to port and end patrol before it actually saves the ability that the crewmember has gotten. Before ending patrol, reload will cause changes to the ability:salute:

once you get that ability, get to home port, end patrol and save desk. Start a new one, he'll have that ability.

I'm losing this. Do you mean that once the crewman gets the upgrade in ability, he will lose it if you shut down the game unless you go all the way back to base and end the patrol?
Or am I reading this wrong?

I think the way it works is that you must put to sea and save the game to lock in their abilities, promotions, medals etc. If you quit the game in port, you will be back in the state you were, when you first arrived.

Dogfish, my experience is that when a crewmember gets an upgrade, he WONT lose it when you save and reload, but it may change to something else. I once had an engine ekspert who changed to a "fuel expert" after I shut the game off and reloaded.
