looking at a new pc with either an ati hd5770 or hd5870 obviously id like to go for the cheaper card if it will run sh5, so does anyone have either of these cards and if so are there any issues with running sh5, dont want to buy one and find out its the one card that has issues with the game (thinking of the old radeon9200 with sh3!).

cpu/ram wont be an issue i think as i could just about get sh5 running ok on my core2duo lappy with 3gb ram and integrated intel gfx card.

+id be extatic if i could at least acheive a solid 30fps.

ps.. aiming to run it at 1680*1050 with no AA/AF

My 5870 chugs SH5 along at 1920x1080 16AF / 8AA and all game settings max at a leisurely 95fps .

Might be worth thinking about your OS also.

32bit has some missing harbour etc without a fix posted by TDW

the ati 5770 will run it at your prefered settings. no prob. 64 bit os will be better because of the ram acceptance: 64 bit accepts more then 2 gb of ram...

i run on win 7 64

Q9650 intel quad processor

4 gig system ram

ATI 5770 res 1920x1080

game runs fine here, though the card maybe cheap for a DX11 card its not all powerful but saying that, with a nice little overclock even with dual monitors this plays games very nicely for me. I also play FPS

well ive settled on my sys specs, went for the 5770 as i think the 5870 might be overkill

AMD® Phenom™ II X6 1045T
6144MB (2x2GB) (2x1GB)1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Memory
1GB ATI® Radeon™ HD 5770 graphics card with Vision Black label
1.5TB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive
Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit

fingers crossed this will run sh5+mods without issue, just hope i dont regret not going for the better vid card... wish me luck!

Obviously I'm a bit late here but I have a 5850 (the 5870's little brother) and run 1680 x 1050 like you.

With vsync on it stays right at 60 fps where it should and no need to turn off aa or af.

with win7

32bit needs 4GB ram to work best or minimum of 3GB for just enough

64bit needs 6GB ram to work best or minimum of 4GB for just enough

so keep this in mind

and newegg has some killer deals on video cards right now

How much di this run you?? Just curious. And did you buy it all as one unit? Or are you buying it seperately and putting it together??

its a dell machine, i know i could do it cheaper if i started from scratch but i dont have the time to build the whole thing myself + i quite like dell machines. total cost is around £780

Well as always, mileage may vary....

My modest rig is a Dell 5150.
3 ghz dual core, 2 gigs RAM, Xp 32, and a ATI 5770.

Sh5 Runs smooth enough, all settings high.
I use an external app to limit Fps to 35, and it stays there pretty consistantly....... But as Sober mentions, Large convoys with multiple fires going can bring me into middle teens.

I wanted to go with a Higher Series card, but I only have one pci-e slot and I CANNOT accomidate a "2-Slot" card.
The 5770 I found was the highest series I could find in a "1-slot", so I went with it.
I was skeptical as it is only a 128 bit bus, but the 850 gpu and the 1200 memory impressed me. ( Can Over-Clock EASILY. )

Long Story Short.....
Im happy with the 5770 !
Got it for $ 100.00 usd and it runs all my stuff with AA and AF higher than I've ever been able to set them.

Hope you fair as well or Better !
