Has anyone else found that if you change this mid-patrol, then it doesn't apply? I tried to dock with Thalia in Cadiz for 1 day but instead was there for two weeks... but when I docked with Belchen off greenland, I could stay for 0 days fine...
weird :-?

If you've got any damage it takes longer in port - something like one day for one percent of damage.
Not many people change anything mid-patrol!

Docking at a supply ship doesn't happen mid-patrol since doing so ends your patrol as far as the game is concerned. :DL
When you leave the supply ship the game will count it as the start of a new patrol; IIRC supply ships were added into the game as additional bases since there was no other way to put them there, and the game treats a stopover there as the end of one patrol and the start of another.
Commander automatically reduces the days spent in base to 1 whenever you end a patrol at a supply ship, however as H-B has noted the game automatically adds 1 day in base for every 1% loss of hull integrity. Since the game treats a stop at a supply ship the same as a return to port, if you have any loss of hull integrity when you dock at one the game will add days to the 1 day "in base" that was set by Commander.
There is a way to undo this by going into the files for your career outside both the game and Commander and editing the days in base that the game assigned when you exited after docking at the supply ship and also the start date of the next patrol, but I haven't done it in a while and don't have those files handy on this computer. I believe it's the Patrols.cfg and Patrols_0.cfg that have to be edited.

No problemo, I once spent the better part of an evening trying to figure out why I docked at the Corrientes one fine morning and couldn't leave again until 22 days later. :D
Took several exits and restarts of the same patrol and lots of wasted attempts at tweaking stuff that didn't need to be to tweaked before I remembered I'd been damaged on patrol and was being held up an extra three weeks to repair my hull. Good thing the Corrientes has those dry-dock facilities! :haha:
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any way to get rid of the extra days in base for damage except to manually edit some career cfg files, but at least it's possible.
Yes, Corrientes, has special memories for you :hmmm:

I assume the damage you sustained is still magically repaired, though?

Aha! :yeah:
I was going to ask this very question!, in terms of I couldn't understand why it had seemingly ignored my standard in port time which I had set to either 7 or 10 days IIRCC. :hmmm::06:
Thanks Guys! :salute:

Heh, yes, a stopover at a resupply ship is as good for what ails you (and your u-boat) as returning to base. On my very next patrol we sustained terrible damage from a depth charge attack that hit us in the middle of a crash dive. We lost both 'scopes, the radio, the hydrophones, and also had damage to the guns plus one battery would not hold a charge even after my LI and his team had done everything they could to fix it at sea.
We were not that far from Las Palmas and running short on fuel on top of everything else. So we made for the Corrientes instead of returning to base. Wouldn't you know it, they had everything we needed to completely repair and replace all our bashed up equipment. I did edit the files to show we stayed there for two days instead of one, though. My boys are good but they're not miracle workers! :haha: *
So, yeah, all damage is repaired, you get a full load-out of ammo, if you're using one of the interior mods that models food stores you'll also find a full complement of sausages once again blocking your view in the control room... IIRC the only thing you can't do is recruit/dismiss crewmen or upgrade your equipment.
*Edit: I will say that in the interests of realism, after leaving Las Palmas I returned directly to Wilhelmshaven, on the surface all the way, and pretended that I only had two torpedoes on board. (I'm not sure why, now that I think about it, since I usually just accept the full ammo loadout in that situation... it's possible the forward tubes had been damaged in the attack as well, and I pretended that only the aft tube was fully operational.) I think I did sink one lone freighter somewhere west of Ireland on the way back, but that was it for that patrol. Probably my worst haul ever on a patrol where I didn't die. :dead:
But it didn't seem right to take such severe damage and then pretend that ALL of it was magically repaired just like that.

I've just found out via uboat.net that Corrientes was built in Britain!

For sure the one that was German during the war?
I seem to remember trying to look up info and came across more than one ship by that name, don't think I ever delved deep enough to determine which one was *the* Corrientes. Can't even remember now why I was looking it up. Idle curiosity probably. Or else I figured if I was gonna be there for an extra three weeks I might as well get to know her better. :O:

I use the "Brain Imagination Mod v1.0" quite a bit as well. In my WarshipMod campaigns there are times I come out of a fight with a bunch of superstructure parts missing (mast, life boats, etc), and other important bits shot up. If I'm in one of the heavy ships my hull integrity won't have suffered any though so as far as the game is concerned I need no time in the repair facility.
"Captain, you don't need to put in for repairs. Your hull is fine!"
"Excuse me? Have you noticed that my mast is gone, my stack is gone, Seaman Voss's guts are still decorating the deck where his gun used to be, and there are a bunch of holes in the wardroom bulkheads? That's also not to mention the damage caused by the fire we had to put out..."
"No big deal, we can have all that patched up in 24 hours while we refuel and re arm you!"
"I'm taking this up with HQ....."
So, it's off to the .cfg files to edit in repair time!

I once hit a mine in the South Atlantic, sustaining severe damage. The supply ship near the Horn of Africa patched it in one day, even when it took three days to limp there.

Yes BUT by the sound of things, SH3 still re-sets all your scores to zero and begins a new patrol though!! :shifty:
least it will save me having to drive all the way to kiel, or perhaps I should maybe call into another base on the western coast of france (EG Brest, or my old fave, lorient)

Just saw one the other day. At PD with the scope up just enough to see over the railing. Wide view. I could see the cable running down out of sight, depth was approx 80 m. The mine was black, round, and had spikes for the contact detonators. It seemed to me it was set at depth to hit submerged submarines and let surface traffic go over. I stopped right there, surfaced and ran out to sea until over 120km from land.
