Requesting any intel for AN 18 in early 1940. Orders are orders and I am going in for at least the minimum 24 hours, but the whole grid is inside 100 km of the east coast of England. I have been sunk several times by mines in previous careers and after 1939 I stay away from Englands coastal areas if possible.

Don't put bernard on watch, and drive very, very carefully :P

AN18? Someone at BdU likes you.

However, that's not a bad area for waifs and strays, though you may need to wait more than 24 hours. Since you will probably be submerged during the day because of air patrols, you will find yourself picking up stuff on sonar fairly often.

Only advice I can give is stay submerged during the day to avoid surface/air patrols.

Thanks for the heads up on the air patrols, have seen several so far and am still approaching from the east, looking to go in near the bottom corner where depth is still around 70m.

Any info on mines? There is the warning message the game sends out pertaining to 100 km on east coast, but have nothing definite on English minefields. I sank an Empire class cargo ship in AN44 as I approached, but he was over 200km from the coast and traveling north to south. This has caused a worry in the crew that that is the merchant lane and going farther in will be an un-needed risk and no targets as the merchants will avoid the mined areas.
