Well on Friday, one of our cats, Boots, started acting sick; very lethargic, very quiet, sat on the table staring at the table cloth for about an hour before he finally sat down and curled up. He's survived about 10 years of mischief, so we we got ready for the worst. Saturday he perked up a little, at first he would only get up to crap, eat, or drink, but by the end of the day he was almost normal again (although he still spent most of the day sleeping on his blanket). And yesterday he was just about back to his old self, still a little cautious though, but he was walking around, rubbing up on people and on every corner he could see, so I breathed a sigh of relief.
Then this morning I was woken up because he had gone bat$h!7 insane: he was on the couch, seemingly unaware of his environment, looking at things we couldn't see, and apparently he had had trouble keeping his balance, so we made an appointment with the vet and took him in this afternoon.
As far as they can tell (they ran blood tests, but we skipped on x-rays to save $160), it's just an infection somewhere, but they couldn't tell what or where exactly, so they gave him antibiotics, some steroids, and fluids so help with the fever and hydration, and the vet said his freakout might've been because of his fever.
Knowing what softies you guys are for cats and pictures of them, here he is the first or second day:

And at the vet, riled up after they tried to take his temperature:

And then a few minutes ago, after he tripped and decided to just sit where he was:

And our other cat, Gentle:

This one swallowed a bouncy ball a couple years ago, she made it after $2000 and a surgery though. Hopefully she stays healthy... Dunno how the parents would feel about having to spend another $400 on her :hmmm:
Now Boots is curled up in his basket shaking off of the sedatives they gave him, hopefully the worst is over. But hey, at least the dog is alright ;)
