This has probably been posted before BUT, I have been reading these things and they are some of the best reading I've come across.
They are Patrol Reports (microfilm) from most of the Fleet boats in WW2!
After reading some of this stuff, it's been an eye opener for learning and getting it from the Skippers own hands.
Enough out of me, enjoy!

Yep!:yep: It's cool to read the real patrol reports of your in game boat. It's interesting to read about the problems we experience in the game, firsthand from the actual captains. I read plenty of times about mis-identified targets, torpedoes failing to explode, ect...

Yeah, one of the first things I looked up was my current boat and read the reports. I had no idea just how big of a problem that visibility was . It's apparent that most of the sightings they got they either couldn't close to attack because of the heading of the enemy or visibility was such that they would frequently lose the contact just because the sea was choppy. I always have renewed admiration for these men especially when I read this stuff, it's just incredible. I also learn something new for every patrol log I read, (I've only gotten' to read a few so far) and some of these are more exciting than any movie!!
Rock on

Was wondering if these were accessible. Where can they be found online? Do they include any attack plots? That's the bit I'd love to see!

I left the link in my first post at the bottom. Tell me if you have a problem getting to them. Yes, even though each Skipper seems to have his own style on formatting, the first part of the logs seem to be an overview and as you get deeper into the reports, they get very detailed. I've seen quite a few with the skippers plots of each attack. Also they were very good at keeping reports of Locations, Weather reports, torpedo performance, crew performance...all kinds of interesting info. Some Skippers give a day to day/play by play. I can't stop reading the stuff. :DL

I was reading the USS Drum reports. It was interesting to note the amount of air contacts and the fact that the submarine dove without sighting most of the time. They didn't take any chances obviously.
Excellent site and good reading.
