I can ski and I have all the gear but haven't gone in last 10 years. Too expensive and none of my friends want to go.

I ski, But not the last couple of years. The ex-wife didn't like the cold and last year was too much of a mess with the seperation.
I'm hopeful for this year. Want to give my new ski gear a workout!

Oh btw I use to Surf.
I skiied for the first time in about ten years last winter. It was fun once I found my balance again. It's a bit hot down here for snow at the moment though.

My first time skiing I never even made it off the bunny slope. How did you manage to put yourself in a wheelchair the first time you put on boards?

I skied most of my life, but switched to snowboarding about 10 years ago. I love the feeling, the weight transfer technique comes much more naturally to me. I live in Montreal and we have 15+ hills within a 1h30 drive.
I was out at one of the local hills early last sunday morning with a group of friends with the temperature hovering around -30/-25 celsius. A bit on the nippy side ... but on the plus side, zero wait time at the chair lifts.

Here is a photo of my wife coming in for a landing over the Xmas holidays. We have a friendly rivalry about who is better, but you will notice I arrived at the bottom before her to snap this pic.

I play hockey/ice skate. I like winter for this reason.
I've snowboarded/skied exactly zero times in my life. I have this aversion to falling off of a mountain.
No, I stay in the lodge with the snow widows while all their skibum men are on the slopes.

Broke my leg, im a clumsy person, im not in a wheelchair *Now* tho, was about 12 at the time i think.

I want to get into skiing/snowboarding. but I'm missing an inner ear, so balance may be an issue, even though I've been half deaf for as long as I can remember. I might get corrective surgery for it someday.
And I'm like Sailor Steve, Definitely about the surfing. I need to get my own board and get back to it.

Oh I see. I'm glad it wasn't as serious as I originally thought! :)

I like to snowboard (I used to skateboard and surf too), but have to travel to far (800km), so that sucks. There's a few indoor centres but it just isn't the same. Wooosh, 8s later you are back in the lift... :x

Last went skiing about 20 years ago for a few years on the trot, but can't afford it now :nope:. If I had the money I'd now rather be jumping out of aeroplanes, last did that only five years ago - much more fun, but just as expensive! :D

I started Skiing when I was about 6 years old. Took to it like a duck to water, which is kind of funny because I live in a part of the world that is relatively flat, might see snow hit the ground once every three or four years and barely an inch or two at that.
We went skiing pretty much every year in the early Spring until i was about 16 years old.
I have not been since, and i miss it dearly because it was great fun.
I feel like if i went out today, even after such a long hiatus... i could get into the groove of it very quickly.

i feel too young:doh:
Be glad you don't feel too old. Young you will get over. Old is a little more final. Last year I was running for a train and slipped. Rather than regain my balance or at least catch myself with my hands, I landed on my face before I knew what had happened. There was quite a bit of blood, but luckily no serious breakage. I did sprain my wrist and have only recently been able to do pushups again.
No, I don't ski or snowboard or surf anymore.
