I'm running TMO2 and have noticed that I get aircraft contact reports while at periscope depth but without the radar mast raised and the radar is turned off. I'm not sure why this is happening. Do I have something above the surface I'm not aware of?
And what is the air search radar display supposed to do when an aircraft is detected? I get nothing but the grassy display, straight across.
Cheers

If I'm under water with the mast lowered, I do not have contacts. Not sure what's going on with that.
As for turning the radar on and off, that only affects the SJ surface search radar. The SD radar is always on.

There is no SD display. The PPI (round sweepy display) and the A-scope (grassy display) are both connected to the SJ set. Unlike SHCE, the only display for air search is the contact plotted on the map.

Ah, didn't realize the A scope was surface search. That would be why it never shows anything.
Can't explain the other contacts when at periscope depth. Maybe I wasn't truly at that depth.
Thanks for the tip!

Pitts;
be advised that the surface search station and display are shown even if you do not have it installed in your sub. Once surface search radar becomes available and you install it then those displays will work. An oversight by the Devs.
Now that i think about it I wonder if it would be possible for a graphic mod to make those stations look "empty" until you actually install the kit?:hmmm:
