Hello,
I have onboard plenty of rookies, about 14 PO1c, 2 Master Chiefs, 2 Senior Chiefs, and 1 Chief Petty Officer who got promoted to Senior Chief.
Now the 2 MCs have different abilities, and now the 3 SCs have an expert radarman, Watchman and Watchman. I notice that saving and reloading works if you do it more than once and since its apparently random, I want some of you fellas to comment on that. Is the abilities configurable? So, I have the above situation, could I reconfigure the characters onboard?
Also, since SH4 is a boat sim, I wonder if someone could produce the Planes mod (a mod which lets user trim the planes to desired depth, and if possible, control flooding +/- and buoyancy.) Pretty much like a plane window with adjustable wheel or plane ------- that goes to a range of degrees or perhaps loosely like the torpedo depth and spread gauge)
I also notice that sound files have DiveplanesettoShallowDive/DeepDive/NormalDive are there actually keyshortcuts to these planes? That would involve more kapitano help I hope.
Where can I get this periscope markings mod? is it stock compatible?

You'll note more bearing markings and hopefully the stadimeter horizontal line too.
Advice is indeed appreciated.

The dive planes in game are for looks only. If you could have any control over them they wouldn't help with driving the boat.

As far as the periscope goes, it looks magnified compared to the menu bar. I looked through the mods pages but can only guess that it might be Captn Scurvies Max Optics mod. Only because of the relative size. The deal with that mod is it gives you 3 zoom on the scopes, then it gives you 2 zooms with the binoculars, then 2 more zooms with the deck gun. It's a bit of a large mod as well. The other 2 or 3 mods I found don't look like this one. I'll post if I find it. Try the max optics for 1.5 and see if this is the one , good luck. D40:salute:

Speaking of simulation, it would be awesome if we could have several clients operating the same sub. One player could be the captain in the conning tower (manning the scope, conducting attacks, deciding course and depth), another could be engineering/control (diving, checking engines, batteries, fuel, repairs, etc), another could be weapons/XO (TDC, firing, reloading, managing torpedoes, managing crew), another could be navigator/steersman, yet another radio/radar/sonar.
Orders and acknowledges could be done with hotkeys or verbally using an external app such as Ventrilo or Teamspeak. Or you could play with friends in the same room (bonus: wardroom and cook).

Well, to put it that way, and with lag online, you can kiss orders like "Crash Dive!" or "Right full rudder, all ahead standard!" goodbye.. Maybe in a LAN party that would be possible. Next comes the issue of mutiny, someone monopolizing the capt or exec's position and refuses to shift role the next attack, then you refuse to do the job, and then the boat misses a hand or two, or perhaps the whole session becomes mutinous. That would send the boat down fast, guaranteed. On a second note, in SH5, you may assume both capts role, and share intel on the line, and lagginess wont cause a severe target discrepancy, for the wolfpack tactic works either ways.

I had a similer thought when I was trying to use Celestial Navigation a while ago. You needed one man to con the boat, plan attacks, etc., and another to do all the navigational chores. This isn't a suggestion though; more of a lament. :wah:
