Dead link for me.
I guess in theory there should not be any problem creating a submarine with a smoother speed of sound transition thus creating a more refractive instead of reflective surface.
But I'm sceptical if this will work for passive detection (though for diesel-electric subs in littoral environments this would be very sweet indeed :) )

Able to access it now. This is sweet stuff indeed.
Sure you might be able to detect a submarine passively. But don't the majority of ASW rely on active homing to find and destroy their targets in their terminal phase?
