These filmmakers have some talent, and the use of scale models = fantastic!

A jeep with harpoon and tow cables might be able to do some real damage there.

And yet, when the thing falls over, its armor is suddenly weak enough for blasters to destroy it in one hit on a monoformed plate?:-?

Well, in any case, TLAM is right about these guys' talent. That's some pretty nice filmwork for having a budget of.....very little. And they even managed to match the realism level of Saving Private Ryan and Pearl Harbor! And they did this without stooping to hiring trained actors that suck! I'm quite impressed, and I mean that.

I thought it more martian machine in the classic sense.

Anyway, the German commander stands before this large open port on the front, and the combined might of an allied offensive battle front can't hit it!

Nice film though.

Nice job though some of the explosion FX were a bit dull.

I don't understand why a big tank on legs would be better than a big tank on tracks, other than the height difference.:hmmm:

Very nicely done, and like Smurf said, realistic withdrawal rather than gung-ho fight to the death. I could see the airforce taking it down easily enough though....get some Brits in with some Typhoons!

You know, That German Spider-Tank Commander sat the entire battle in this observation area with rather big open window. Wouldn't it occur to the Allied troops to I dunno.... aim at that hole.:hmmm:

Anyways.

Spider Tank, Spider Tank, does whatever a spider tank does.

I hereby motion that we re-name the Nazi-robot-spider "Mechapanzer" because it sounds cooler and will help us capture the Japanese robophile demographic. Also, Nazi-robot-spider is akward to use in conversation.

Considering they made the whole film with a budget of 2,000$ USD and not much outside support, it was pretty good.

Nice to see not all US troops are gung-ho heroes.

Had this been a Hollywood action movie, they'd have been: "CHARGE!"

I could see the air force taking it down easily enough though.

Correction, Army Air Corps. The USAF was founded after WWII ended. Unless you're talking about the RAF...

CGI explosions which they used don't cost much to make.:O:

Actually the USAAF was already in existence in 1944. United States Army Air Force was part of the 1942 division of the US Army by presidential order: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Army_Air_Forces

Granted, they look much better than some of the CGI used in "B" movies with much larger budgets. ;)

Actually the USAAF was already in existence in 1944.

I said USAF, not USAAF. The former was founded in 1947, a couple of years after the end of WWII, the latter being founded in 1941, around the time the USA entered WWII. One "A" not two. :O:

Well, even the best of things don't stand a chance if they get outnumbered 10:1 or worse. Those Tigers and Panthers would have lost even if they had been as reliable as the Sherman's or T34s. There simply is no outproducing the States and USSR with a country of the size of Germany. But thankfully the Robo Spider made Panthers and Tigers obsolete so it didn't matter anyway.:D

Very well done film. They did a good job regarding colour correction and the editing was also good, with only minor flaws. I especially liked the weathered look of the spider's metal.

The American jeep drivers showed some suicidal behaviour though, at 2'56'' they drive transversal to the front line, through enemy fire. At 2'31" it's nearly as stupid: here the jeep drives towards the enemy unit which is firing. Although they have a 50cal mounted, it is unmanned. :-?

Anyway, the German commander stands before this large open port on the front, and the combined might of an allied offensive battle front can't hit it!

Yes, while better for the fliming, in reality the hatch would be much smaller and there would certainly be bullet proof glass attached in a combat situation, just like in the Tiger tank.

I don't understand why a big tank on legs would be better than a big tank on tracks, other than the height difference.:hmmm:

Legs are better to get over height differences and also to bridge gaps and barriers. A big disadvantage it that the pressure on the ground per cm² would be much bigger than with tracks. Unfortunately we cannot see its feet to see how they solved this problem...

But they would have been... :D

Yes, as the Ewoks are friendly towards all races, they would certainly had fought against the Nazis. Plus they are used to fight against the guys with the Wehrmacht style helmets... :03:

There's a political cartoon I saw many years ago that had an aged WW2 US Army vet getting all irate at the sight of a modern US trooper wearing his kevlar helmet, mistaking him for his old adversary.

Wish I could still find it because it perfectly fits your comment about Wehrmacht style helmets. :salute:

Meh, you empirialists are still butthurt that you have lost the war! I do not want to remind you of all the atrocities that your beloved stormtoopers committed!
The Ewoks where fighting a guerilla war against an enemy with superior weapons and much more resources. 4 against 1 is only understandable in a situation like this!

They planned to cook and eat these Rebels a few minutes after capturing them!
Say what you will about the Empire, but at least they don't eat sentient beings!!

There were no signs of an actual desire to eat them, this scene was all made for the reason of deterrence. Again: guerilla war.

Stormtrooper helmets used as drums... its unclear if the trooper's heads are still in them...

Ah revisionism at it's best! Again, this is just propaganda. There was this guy called Gregor Lukas or something like this. He made many ugly propaganda films for the empire, despicing the Ewoks as inferior beings.
I heard he used vertically disadvantaged humans and put them into Ewok costumes and then filmed some barbarian acts. It is also possible thatn this Lukas guy used the evil twin brothers of the Ewoks, the Duloks (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dulok/) to spread the propaganda of the eternal Ewok.

At least they got what they deserved...
