:salute: I know that this game is unlike any other. It brings your system to its limits. In my PC it takes 2-3 minutes to load a mission (I have an SSD).
Is it bad programming, or just the fact that it loads all the environment when you start?
Is it mod related?
Are there any tips to make it load faster?

what are your system specs?
Its bad programming. Mafia 2 which is millions time more graphical intense than SH5 it loads in just few seconds, SH5 always need around 5 minute including the annoying 'wait until saves are sync with the server' issue. Moded, becomes a very unstable game, never saw a game that crash so much :nope:

Phenom 9950 BE
ATI 4870

SSD : Intel X25-M
As magnum said, it has to be bad programming. The game itself is not graphically intense. Maybe the scripting/Python part has to do with the slow loading.

Python is an interpreted language just like Java is. Thus all the .py files have to be compiled at game start and this takes time to do. The Python language supports pre-compiled files but SH5 doesn't :nope:

I have 2 OCZ AGILITY 2 60Gb SSD drives running in RAID 0 and i still get super slow load times so you're not alone my friend. Compared to Bad Company 2 which took less than a second to load a single player level.
MAN THESE DRIVES ARE FAST!!!!....... except when it comes to SH5
I think if you take all the syncing BS that Ubisoft performs then the load times on single player would be far better.

Loading times will get worse as the campaigns are added to. I used to load very quickly but now with testing Zedi's campaign changes my loading times have gone up.
Must be the mines as they act as naval units. And thats bad news. If I remove half of them, then none will notice any difference... dunno what to do :nope:

I wait somewhere in the ballpark of 20 minutes to get from clicking on the game icon to actually being in a mission.
But my hard drives are pretty old and slow, I could use a SSD more than anything at this point.
I would kill to have a 3 minute loading time.

My tip, get rid of old savegames!
Even when savegame sync is disabled in the Launcher, SH5 will still make md5-hashes for them which can take some time.

I just timed mine, from 1st click to play is 1 min 50 seconds.
Here's a tip: If you have a lot of saved games, it can dramatically add time. I allow myself 5 saved games, and just resave over them. So the "sync" time during load is small.
I am running:
Win 7 64bit
16 Gig
Nvidia 480
My system drive is a raptor but SH5 sits on an old 7200 RPM IDE drive.
Core i7 CPU 950@3.07GHz

Y loaded that game lot of times because I have modded for it and is one of the first "big" game that loads in few seconds, amazing.
To SHV we need to add saved games synchronization and Launcher...
Bye !!
